I told my wife the other day with all the companies looking for people I could find another job and make more money. Her response "more money wouldn't make you happy".

It's the truth, money only makes you happy if you spend it.

I've worked at jobs where I hated it, I dreaded going to work at those places. I carried that hate everywhere. I look forward to coming to work now and next month will be 26 years here. I could make more and have more benefits. I couldn't bring Cole with me or do the side stuff I do at other places. I'm content with where I am, that means a lot to me.

I know you're at a crossroads and I wish you the best with whatever you decide

    true quick story.
Guy at the shop caught his heel on a lift.
    Separated the heel also.

Jim and I peeled the foam inner sole away and drilled a hole
And “bolted” the heel with some kind of glue and ground down
The nut even with the grinder even with the heel surface.
Added a little extra foam from something we had laying around
Inside over the head of the “stove bolt”.
I think he wore that for a week and a half until he could break in
    Another set of boots.

You mentioned several important things, and I appreciate the support.
Not a day goes by that I don't count my blessings.
I really should have another discussion with my wife about it.
If I stay put where I'm at then debt free in 6 years. Just swallow my pride put away prejudice...thank you sir may I have another.
Happiness is a state of mind.

Your so good in your current job The higher ups don`t want to promote you out.

Now my case I was on the road so often my wife got to enjoy her freedom She decided she wanted both I stopped out of town work not even a year I surprised her with her Girl friend.

It is a rough decision not only the move but starting a new job .

    Best of Luck

You would think this alone would help them either promote you or give you a few more benefits...

Just got another phone call about my vehicle warranty so I pressed 1 to speak to someone, she said "can you verify the make and model?" I said "sure, it's a 1932 Model A Ford" and we were both quiet for a moment so to break the ice I said "it's a 4 speed". She hung up

But actually just gives them more reason to keep me where I'm at.

    Thanks Stock.

Yeah, but funny how just 2 years in here they got wind that I was interviewed for another job then they ask, what do want, what do you need? I wanted nothing more than what was fair and what I was led to believe as far as wages and advancement and they gave it to me. But now there's a whole new regime in there, (management) who apparently thinks, go shake the fence and grab the first person who falls off, stick them in the shop.

Hah, I'm stealing that! Pretty sure they're not gonna warranty a '95 Eagle with 237K miles. If they do, it's gonna get real expensive for them
