I destroyed so many 4Runner parts when I moved so no one could take them off the curb and resell.

After you get low balled on parts you’re selling for pennies it gets tiring. Like a center console for $20 and someone offers you $10. Nah I’d rather cut it in half with a sawzall.

I know, he responded just like I would.
I probably wouldn’t have even responded actually.

We've been staying at my aunt's house the last few days, she's got this big baby named Darby who's terrified of men.

    PXL_20210714_143519486.PORTRAIT.jpg

Been trying to get him to warm up to me, every evening he finally comes around but by morning it's like he completely forgets who I am lol.

Apparently he was rescued at 6 mo old from a house where guys where shooting him with BB guns all the time. My aunt had to take him to the vet to get several BBs removed from his ears. People suck

When I hiked and summited Mt Whitney in 2018 with my dad (14,500 ft) we took a medicine called Diamox which is often prescribed to help prevent altitude sickness.

Makes your hands tingly AF and makes you have to pee like crazy so brings lots of water if you get it lol.

Best thing to do to prevent altitude sickness though is too acclimate. Don't go from sea level to high altitude in one day, that's a sure way to get sick. If you can stop and camp for even just one day at around 10k ft it will help. The more the better.

And if you do start to feel altitude sickness coming on, the only way to safely stop it from potentially turning deadly is to decrease your altitude. Don't try and fight through it

Saw one guy on our trip that got it real bad, was stuck on the trail around 13k ft overnight and had to get airlifted out by helicopter in a pressurized chamber pod. We passed them on the trail as the helicopter was dropping the pod for them and finding a safe place to land. Wasn't pretty

I only hung around the summit of Whitney for about 15 min because by the time I got to it, I was feeling really loopy like I'd taken a few quick shots of whiskey with a mild headache coming on. Soon as you start descending it goes away, but if keep going it can turn deadly

Around 12k ft though Id imagine you'd have to be sensitive to altitude to get it bad, but you don't wanna find out the hard way

Went and bought some gaskets to get ready to port and gasket match the big block heads and intake mani, but I had to get a beauty shot of the new intake and carb on the dirty old engine haha.

Thanks for the info. I see Diamox should be taken 24 hours in advance.

Day 1 - We'll spend the first night in Albuquerque NM at 5,300 feet.

Day 2 - Next afternoon and night in Silverton 9,300 ft.

Day 3 - Next day will start moving up to 11,000 and 12,000 ft.

Hopefully, I won't have any problem.

People are terrible. I've never met a boxer that I didn't like, subarus excluded.

Just don't overexert yourself. We've been at 9k and above while wheeling and never had a problem, just try not to have to do an emergency trail fix up there.

Yeah with that acclimation you should be fine.

Yeah we started taking the Diamox a couple days before the trip in small doses. Still have some of it left over someplace
