I pretty much knew what I was getting when I bought my '19. The only thing that I did not expect was that you have to lock the tailgate with a key. These days you should be able to lock it with the key fob.

You can fix that for about $130 with the OEM kit.

It does not beep when you put on your turn signal. It only flashes the yellow warning in the side view mirrors.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
I guess you missed the thread where some guy was b*tching and moaning about the terrible resolution on the Tacoma back-up camera, wanting to know if there were better aftermarket options, etc.

I sometimes think these forum exist solely for the purpose of people griping about the dumbest G-D things. As if not having 10 windshield wiper speeds to choose from ever caused anyone to careen off a wet road. Or as if you need 4K HD resolution to see if a bicycle is behind your truck in the driveway.

My all-time favorite, though, is still the guy complaining about the light illuminating the Qi charger cubby being too bright. Wanted to know how to disable the light or replace it with a lower wattage bulb. WTF? Can you imagine letting something that trivial keep you up at night? (The best suggestion in that thread was a guy who said "Put a piece of duct tape over the bulb." )

If you’re going to bitch about something, at least come up with something legit. Jeez! There wasn’t one single thing on your list worth a shit… WITF listens to CD’s anymore? And the last thing I want is my truck locking itself unless I want it to…

Apparently the camera resolution on 16-19 is much better than 20+.

But yeah I agree, way too many folks complaining about the smallest little things.

My truck is not a Tesla and also doesn't function as a helicopter. I am very upset by this and I do hope Toyota will rectify it in short order.

    Like, so many.
Locking tailgate would have been nice. It's on my to-do list.

    Traded it in.
I do kind of wish my 2020 had a CD playing it. I've always hated having to reload them on all my new phones. Also I wish I could use android auto via Bluetooth. But that's only because my phones port is jacked up and I'm to cheap to fix it.

We have the Qi thing in our ‘17 Prius. It’s in roughly the same location as it is in Tacoma’s. I accidentally spilled a decent tip of coffee yesterday into the Qi recess (the cup holders are right there) and the coffee immediately drained to God knows where through a seam in the plastic. First I laughed because it was drawn out so fast. And then I frowned, wondering where it ends up.

Have too agree with you there. Toyota trucks have had clutch switches since the 1980's so I can only guess the Company lawyers are just being overly cautious when there is no need to be.

I too looked all over on how to turn on an audible beep, seems like a beep would be the default mode. Let us know if you find a solution if even aftermarket.

The key thing on my '21 manual drives me batty. Traded my '15 Focus ST that had a fob & push start. Get to show my kids what it was like in the olden days (as they call it) when everyone drove a manual and started their car with an actual KEY.

My 2021 has a locking tailgate. Oddly, there were two options for a keyless tailgate lock, and I'm not sure what the difference is. I didn't pick either.

My 85 DLX didn't have a clutch start cancel, but my 91 SR5 and 00 TRD did. If I had to guess why it doesn't have a push start, it's because either Toyota is overly concerned with people being able to roll start and steal a truck with no key, they're concerned about in-gear starts from people smart enough to push the clutch start cancel, but too dumb to take it out of gear, or they're just lazy/cheap. (I bet it's #3).

I wish my 21 6MT came with rev-matching, a shift indicator, and current gear position on the dash display. Not necessary, but would have been cool to have. Otherwise I have no complaints about the 3rd Gen, having come from a 1st Gen.

I was more surprised than anything at Toyota's lack of options for the Access Cab. No leather, no 10-way adjustable passenger seat, lots of little things that suggest they don't really even want to sell an access cab anymore (understandable, double cabs outsell the access cab like crazy).

This thread is a product/process improvement nightmare. I saw a 5th TPMS at the top of someones list. LOL! wtf hopefully Toyota gets in here and starts working on our requests.

Pretty sure Toyota still uses the key with the manuals is because of the clutch start cancel button.
