    New to the forum!

Been trying to do some research and find information on upgrading the leaf pack in my stock 2021 Tacoma TRD Pro.

My question is if I can upgrade the leaf pack with the rear Fox suspension? Looking at Dakars HD or Deavers Stage 3.

Total weight is approx. 350lbs for daily driving.

For when I go out on trips a RTT and camping gear etc will also be loaded in the back. (RTT adds an extra 125lbs without gear = approx. 500lbs) I also plan to buy a bumper in the future.

I have been searching the forum on information and nothing is really fitting to what I am looking for. (Or maybe I am just bad at navigating the forum lol)

All information is helpful and useful and appreciate any suggestions and recommendations.

The vehicle is still new (2k miles).

    Thanks everyone!

    - Nick

Best I can do is answer your question in a general fashion.

If you change your lift with new springs, you have to match your new rate of travel with new shocks. If you can somehow calculate your new lift height along with the new rate of full travel (Up and Down), this will give you an idea on shock length.

Thanks for the replies. Seems like the issue I am finding is the Pro Fox suspension may not have enough travel to accommodate a full leaf pack which is why most people opt to a AAL if they are trying to keep the stock Fox suspension.

I emailed Headstrong who was unsure if a full leaf pack would work because of the possible travel issues. They gave me more information regarding the AAL:

    "
The AAL should be compatible with your vehicle. The Dakars leaf you might need extended rears and we don't know if it will fit your current rear shocks.
    ...
The single AAL is both thicker and arched more than the initial leaf in the 3 leaf AAL. Though the 3 leaf AAL has more steel overall, the first leaf in the mini pack does not engage as quickly as the single AAL does. In fact, the single AAL is arched to a point where it re-arches the existing factory packs upon and thus engages immediately. The 3 leaf AAL has less arch and complies with the arch of the factory packs. So although the first leaf in the 3 leaf AAL will provide some support with the smaller bumps, it won’t provide as much as the single AAL will, which in the case of the single leaf translates to a slightly stiffer on-road ride. And as far as the 2nd and 3rd leaf's in the 3 leaf AAL, these will only come into play until the factory packs are flexed far enough to engage them. This will happen more so over the bigger bumps or when off-roading. The single leaf provides approx. 1.5"-2" of lift and the 3-leaf provides approx. 1.5" of lift with the factory overload removed. The overload does provide function, for when you are overload. The design intent of 3-leaf add-a-leaf's (regardless of brand) is to remove it. If you find yourself hauling or towing a decent amount of weight you may want to go with the single leaf since it keeps the overload in. Now the lift height, performance and capabilities of any of the add-a-leaf's can still rely on the factory leaf pack and its capabilities and wearability."

I have read this reply in another post by Headstrong and a lot of good feedback about this company so I trust what they are saying.

I have sent an email out to OME, Deavers and Icon to see if they could give me any insight and waiting for a response.

Here is some information I have found on the forum that gives some insight for the Pro Fox suspension (These specs are from someone measuring them):

    Extended Length
    Front: 555mm (21.85")
    Rear: 595mm (23.43")

    Collapsed Length
    Front: 443mm (17.44")
    Rear: 357mm (14.06")

    Stroke
    Front: 112mm (4.41")
    Rear: 238mm (9.37")

    Bilstein 5160 Specs (Rear):

    Shock Specifications:
    - Collapsed = 14.22"
    - Extended = 24.06"
    - Travel 9.84"

With the Fox specs and Bilstein specs I typically see the AAL (1.5-2inch lift) and not full leaf pack (2-3inch lift) upgrades.

Hoping some Tacoma owners will chime in with what they have to give some more insight!

    Thanks for all the info.

I chatted wit Chad from Alldogs Offroad about their AAL (https://www.alldogsoffroad.com/alld...-3rd-gen-toyota-tacoma-rear-add-a-leaf-kit-15) and he mentioned that their 3 leaf is rated to give you 1.5 inches with 250lb load. I called Icon and their AAL is rated to give you 1.5 with an empty bed.

I think I am going to order the AAL from Alldogs Offroad. I also carry about 350lbs consistently and want to get the factory rake back and the leafs off the overload. Lol when I look at it now, it is pretty flat. Chad mentioned that since my 350lb is 100 over their 250lb, I might still get a .75 lift over stock which I would still be happy with. Heck, even if I loaded up more weight and it sat at stock height with rake, I would be very happy.

    No problem @Muajilong .

Is that 1.5 inches @ 250lbs without the overload installed? For the Alldogs Offroad AAL.

    Thanks for the information!

Correct! Chad told me you would remove the factory overload to install the AAL, and it would give you 1.5 inches w/ 250lbs.

What size tires are those, 265 or 285? They look beefy, I like it!

@trdprobert Heya! From my understanding the Fox suspension has a 1inch front lift stock.

If I plan to raise the front and keep the stock Fox suspension I have looked at Westcott Designs / 1.5inch front and 1inch rear /
    (https://westcottdesigns.net/product/fox-trd-pro-lift-kit/) .
You can buy both the front and rear lift or you can only purchase the front lift. (A buddy of mine has the Westcott lift and it looks good!) My problem with the lift is that I want the extra support when I'm loaded. With the 1.5-2inch lift in the rear with an AAL or Leaf pack and then loaded down... I am hoping it will level me out with the 1inch stock lift.

Hope that makes sense. I am by no means a serious off roader, but I would like to be able to handle some trails to get to camping spots/views and a few 14er hikes id like to do!

Thank you for the reply. I offroad pretty consistently but want feedback from all corners of the topic. The pro does have a lift over OR/other trims. Im thinking of going with the Westcott for at least the front if not the rear as well. Mind shooting me his contact so I can run questions by him? Thank u in advance!

Here is another good thread for the Eibach Option. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/taco-pro-owners-interested-in-a-spring-upgrade-for-front.643212/

I am also considering the Westcott and the Eibach (https://eibach.com/us/2607/E30-82-069-04-20-Toyota-Tacoma-TRD-Pro-pro-lift-kit). Lol however y'all are fancy with your 2021s. Currently I just see https://eibach.com/us/2281/E30-82-069-03-22-TOYOTA-Tacoma-TRD-Pro-pro-lift-kit

Ohh nice!! Maybe it is the 7in wheel width that makes it look so beef! Look good! I dont really like the way my 2019 Pro wheels looks and am waiting to get some SCS F5 16x8 0mm, and pair those with some BFG KM3s! 265/75s look pretty good on a stock pro lift!

First time poster here. I've been following a lot of threads about lifting PROs since i do haul a lot of camping stuff and sometimes tow a 21' RV trailer. I decided to go with an AAL and not touch the front suspension. I went with a local suspension fabricator (Canada Spring) who's done a lot of Tacoma AAL work here in Vancouver. Just thought I'd share a pic of it post install. It added roughtly 1.75" on the back which I assume will settle to 1.25-1.5. BTW, I don't mind the rake. ;-)

Looks awesome man! Is that with an empty bed? Did you leave the overload spring in?

Thanks. In that pic, it's just the cap (~130lbs) on the back. I didn't do the install, but yes, the overload spring is still in there.

Did you do a u bolt flip kit and add any bump stops? Trying to get an idea of what to do once my truck arrives. I'll be adding an RSi EVOa and a Rigd supply tire swing and don't wanna sag.

I have a 2020 Pro, went Westcott Design with Icon AAL on 285/75/16 which was great when all i was running was a MX4 tonneau cover, but then I got the RSI smart cap and the AAL gave ~0.75" negative rake. So I put a bandaid on it with the westcott designs 1" spacer block which put me at level. If I could go back i would maybe just do the westcott designs with spacer block only first.
