The 1.6 is a good little engine. Little more torque than the 1.3 that some came with. Trasfer case mount arms are a weak point and i think the low range gear is only a 2.6?

Fusible links can be an issue.

That being said...i want one. I always have, probably always will.

Wait....I beleive the 1.6 is out of a Geo or a tracker. An 87 should have the 1.3.

I saw that too, apparently it's a common engine swap but that's one of the questions on my list to ask.

If its not rotten and all the electrical is good....its probably a decent buy. Finding a samuri that hasnt been beat to shit or cut all to hell is like finding hens teeth.

Nobody buys a samuri to drive. They get bought to wheel, which doesnt help the 2nd hand market.

awesome little rigs and seem to always run well but they are a death trap when people lift them up high since they tip easily

If I ever take them off they are staying off and I'll cut another 2 inches off the panel metal. Just more shit that can rust.

I don’t have the knowledge, tools needed and I’m not losing the detent spring or buffer spring in the process of figuring out I should have asked for help. I’m more Than willing to learn but not at the cost of losing shit
