That would have been a spine frame/mono shock, with the same motor, EFI/2VPC/1100cc, that you see in my red bike. That machine was Aprilia's attempt to sex things up after they bought them.

Indian making you squirm a bit, eh HD?

I see that as a blatant cave-in to the Scout's design. The finish of the side cases, the exhaust, the profile in general. Everyone I know that's A/B'd Indian and Harley praises the Polaris motors and builds.

Yes, same here! I set up beside a really nice guy this past session. A few years older than me, early retired, and he was doing his xxteenth track of this year! Said he'd done a total of 30 over the last three years! I was more than a little envious...

Been doing some reading on the different options re: converting to tubeless! Definitely interested in hearing how that goes for you!

15k with no pillion seat, 3 gallon tank, and forward controls....Not for me but imagine I'll see them in bar parking lots soon.

Will be interesting to hear what people think after riding it... More power and less weight is good, but need to ditch the forward controls and suspension travel is still lacking.

How much are trackdays out there? Its like $400 a weekend here. The time i went i met one of the local racers so he let me hang out with his family and showed me the ropes.

Similar by me - it was a little over $200 a day. I rode with Team Pro-Motion who also offered advanced rider training that included classroom sessions and on-track instruction which was very helpful. You can rent leathers and gear too if needed.

I'll be interested to see how you like it. I think if I ever bust my UHD tube I'd consider it, but so far so good on that. I usually am more worried about busting the front vs the rear.

I never busted a tube but always ran 12psi.

Currently i have a nitromousse standard (12psi feel according to their standard) in the front and rear. I really like the feeling they have, they are a bit "dead" since its foam but i think its takes away some of the sharp hits. The rear was difficult and time consuming though to fit and they are more tire specific due to sizing.

Im hoping i can drop pressure a bit more to 7-8psi and see how the bike does. Swapping to the AT81ex which is a bit softer too. Ill report back though

I've been running 10 psi front and rear and have been pretty happy with the tires at this pressure so far. Front's hit some down trees with some force and I was definitely expecting a pinch tube situation and thankfully never have dealt with one yet.

I use Roger Lyle and he charges $50 for an annual membership. I only do a single day (honestly don't know how anyone riding with any vigor can do two in row!) and that is $225. If you do both days, it is cheaper per day but I don't recall by how much off the top of my head. I do utilize their "gift certificate" offers, i.e. pay $50 in the off season and it counts toward $100 off when you sign up, so I'm really only paying $175 most of the time.

As for renting leathers? I guess if you were seriously only going to go once or twice, it would save you some money but there are decent suits for not much more than a few rentals.

I was pretty put off by the initial "buy in" and very intimidated being a new rider at a late age. I was pleasantly surprised by several things: 1. the friendliness and helpfulness of almost everyone I interacted with, 2. how many women and older guys were there, and 3. the wide variety of bikes on the track, even in the higher skill groups.

Not sure if any other org's do this, but Roger does allow street riders to take a two-three lap tour of the track during the lunch break to see if they want to give it a try and you can do it in your street clothes...

Went for a nice little ride yesterday, getting more confident with each foray out into the wild.
