It's not jealousy. There are a lot of us who grew up/lived there for a long time. Annnnd then got out to greener pastures.
The prob is ... A lot of other places buy into the BS of 'Oh! Kalifornia is SO cool and SO progressive and SO modern! ' and try to model themselves in the same fashion ... Where the people who live in the other pastures are saying 'Hey! Hold up! We like it just the way it is right now!'
THAT is the problem. I learned very quickly went I moved that 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do' .. Trying to change that ... It's not a good thing.
    It's not jealousy, it's resentment.

I live in Socal for 65 years and I have experienced all those things. I travel around the state most weekends. Smelly homeless aren't so bad. The ones trying to get clean by showering completely naked in front of children on the beach is far worse. Or dropping a deuce in public. This situation is expanding and getting far worse.

Have bo fear. They are going to spend another billion on the problem. I figure that should house two or three after everyone involved gets their cut.

With what’s been “spent” already they could have bought condos for pretty much all of the homeless.

Here's the piece that get's most denied when trying to do this:

Adding a camper shell to a pickup truck does not necessarily constitute a change from commercial to auto registration. The addition must meet the definitions for human habitation or camping purposes. Otherwise, the vehicle may be subject to citation from law enforcement for not meeting the definition of an auto. Human habitation is defined as living space which includes, but is not limited to: closets, cabinets, kitchen units or fixtures, and bath or toilet rooms.

Weather, and nothing to do with folks that live there.

Most come for the jobs, stay for the weather, and leave because if the state government.

Born and raised there, left when I hit 60. Took me a while to get use to not having a leftist (state government) monkey on my back. Once I got free of that, life got real good.

Here in Nevada I pay about $450. for tags.

Happy for you! I haven't wanted to do something that California prohibits yet. I'm watching for that. Weather makes since.

That is one of the things I like about Hawaii. Been there many times and always do a double take when I see people riding motorcycles without a helmet or people riding in back of trucks! (both have been illegal in California for years). Maybe it reminds me of the "good 'ole days".

For me Berkeley, Gilman Street and SF had some great Venues. 80’s punk rock scene was insane. Great memories
