They will push back on the diminished value but keep pushing for it. As others said make the logical argument for it. I have done this with success when I was rear ended.

May I ask who is your [OP] insurance company?
Demand that the other person's insurance get you a comparable loaner car for duration of repair.

And yes, you will want to pursue DV, as your truck's value will definitely be affected.

My biggest fear in having this repaired is the quality of the actual repair. I had a vehicle painted at an allegedly reputable body shop in CA ($4000.00 paint job) before I moved back to HI and am having issues.
Hard to battle them 2500 miles away though.

On a collision repair they're going to cut every corner they can unfortunately.

Were you given a choice of body shop? I see you're in California; unfortunately there are a lot of shysters there....they said it's not totaled...the shop will then process a bunch of Supplements to make money and voila by the time they're done it's weeks late and $10k more than original estimate.

At any rate best of luck to you.

When I got rear ended years ago, the people who rear ended me paid for my rental.

He also got rear-ended by his Brother. There was a thread about this last week I think.

Well, I was going to say we're all sitting here guessing and what he really needs is an attorney, but that kind of puts a different spin on it.

Do what I did... bought my wife a new car. She hit a post hard about four months in. I had it towed to a body shop, paid for an estimate and took the estimate to a dealer. I then proceeded to work a deal to trade wrecked SUV in on a new one just like it. They did send a guy to look at my wreck first.
I came out okay but you need to know enough to not get taken.

This seems like a question best directed to your Insurance Carrier.

FWIW, the frame on my truck was replaced 2018, under the recall, the integrity of the truck is absolutely fine.

12 weeks for a frame as the factories and supply chain come back online, seems normal. 4 weeks for a invasive task to replace the frame, seems normal.

It took 10 weeks for an order of 200 sq feet of vinyl siding to arrive......... A frame is a more complex item.

I always take the check and fix it myself for a fraction of the cost.

Been said, but if the truck was not totaled out, you can usually get paid out for the amount. I was able to do that when I went through mine for the repair. But as has been stated, you're on your own. If you go with insurance, they usually deal with the facility directly (at least mine does) and if problems arise they can deal with it. I got paid out for mine because it was relatively minor and I know I can get it done for cheaper and it's not a show car. This has been the 2 cents of a 2 beers in man.

I read that last part as "mouth breathing", but maybe one in the same

given the supply of trucks or lack of, i would think them cutting you a check might pose its own set of issues.

i'm in the same situation brother. shop hopefully got my frame order in yesterday. Estimated time to repair - 90 days.

still no rental car and i need my truck for work. been a pretty stressful week so far.

was rear ended and other driver found "at fault" but no citations given. took out my frame, rear bumper, driver's side leaf spring/mounts, and popped my spare tire.

Can we try for four threads by Friday on your truck?

I think you need to be putting a boot firmly in the ass of the family member that hit you, make sure to march it dry. With how extensive the damage is i'd start wondering it was on purpose or if they're just an idiot.
