I sure do appreciate everyone's help with this. The last thing I was looking forward to was taking a parking lot salesmans advice

I think the highest tongue weight that any model of Tacoma supports is 650lb… with stuff in the bed that number is even lower. Also your auto will hunt like crazy on hills with that weight and you could burn your trans without a cooler or careful attention to what your torque converter is doing. But with a weight distribution hitch, airbags, a light foot, minimal hills, and assuming nothing requires you to take an evasive maneuver at speed, then you’ll be sorta ok.

I haul a 23bhs around couple times a month dry she’s 4500 loaded lil over 5000 brake controller abd Wdh a must but tbh she does just fine all up in the bill country here in Texas I’ve only logged about 3000 miles in her since we upsized from our Coleman pop up 3 months ago.

I will say at 500+ on the tounge I’m fixin to add the HD leaf to my medium dakkars and losing the cap/rack to free up some payload

Ummmmm..... suggest to walk past any "bumper hitch" trailer for full time living.

You'll want the space and amenities of a 5th wheel or a Class A.

I lived in a small camper for 3 months while in the relocating vortex. Super PITA, just glad my family was not with me.

I lived in a 34' bumper pull trailer for 2 1/2 years while working in MS. I never pulled it because I made a deal to have it delivered with the private party I bought it from. Then when it was time to go back home the new owner picked it up. Must say I really enjoyed my time in MS. I didn't have to deal with kids since the boys were already long gone before heading to MS, but it was cozy and did get a little more challenging when the wife came for her extended visits. Definitely had to keep it clean and organized or the walls started creeping in on you. I rented a 10x15 storage unit where I set up a dresser and an enclosed hanging rack for my out of season and extra clothes. I also had three motorcycles, a couple of bicycles along with associated tools and equipment.

BTW-hauled all my stuff there and back (750 miles one way) in a 6x12 U-Haul with the truck fully loaded too. That was about as much as I would want to haul with my truck.

    Pictures for attention.

What about tank dumps? How often, once a week?

Depends... I had a direct hook up to a septic system. Gray water was constant while black water was when needed. Followed by several fill the black tank and dumps.

Depends on the size of the tank and how often you dump your tank.

Typically, there is a grey water and a black water tank. Grey water is from sinks and showers. Black water is from toilets.

When dumping use the camp's dump station and wear rubber gloves. Make the connection to the Black tank. Dump the black tank first. Then move the connection to the Grey tank. Dump it second. Then only then rinse the dump hoses with the water at the dump station. DO NOT USE your potable water hose. After the sanitary hose is rinsed, hose off the dump station. Please don't leave a nasty mess for the next person.

Side note: Keep your white potable water hose only for potable water. To store it. Drain it, then coil it and connect the ends together. Connecting the ends will keep dirt, debris, bugs......and other crap out of the potable water supply line.

I like more of a small minimalist approach. 14 foot trailer was more than enough for me to live in for several years.

Connecting the ends together will keep dirt, bugs etc out of the hose, it will also promote the growth of algae if stored that way.......best to just drain, coil and store, then flush well before using. If stored more than a month or so, a little bleach will sanitize a potable water hose.

Weight distribution hitch and bigger trans cooler mandatory.

what is the real cost difference between a trailer/hookups/space fee and an apartment?

With Tacoma prices what they are right now, especially a clean 2nd gen, could probably get yourself into a Tundra pretty easily.

I don't know, maybe $500 to 600 a month. Plus living in an apartment complex versus living outside the city limits in a country setting, priceless.

I paid $400 a month that included water, sewage and electricity on a private lot by myself adjacent to a lake.

Like I said, really enjoyed my time in MS.

Except the tundra has shit fir payload unless you stick with a double cab Closer to 1600lbs but pulling a bigger TT you’ll not have much room for more in the truck. Especially if you have a cap bumpers lift racks..... and tundra gas mileage currently is also worst in class. That’s why I just use my taco

I wouldn't go for a Tundra personally, there are much better full size trucks, but the question was directed towards getting a Tundra
