But that's used as a gasket material isn't it? Is there oil behind the crank pulley bolt?

Instructions said it is recommended to use an oil resistant silicone on new crank bolt. So I dabbed a little on because it’s all I had. When I remove the oem I did see some oil come out which scares me a little hopefully I don’t get a front main seal leak.

those instructions are wrong - They should have revised them to read use a oil resistant silicone on the back side on the new pulley around the bolt hole to create a seal between it and the in-place oem pulley, and on the back side of the bolt head where it contacts the new pulley face (flange). Nothing is to be used on the bolt. I got this information directly from Magnuson (Ryan) when questioning them about it, along with a few other items they left off the instructions last February when I did my install. Oh well. I guess they are too busy to revise their instructions. Maybe they are fixing the shifting logic!

yep really - I posted it on one of the Maggy Threads here along with the other items they missed. Ryan said they would correct the instructions to reflect the errors/omissions. As for your situation = if it is torqued properly (204ft-lb) I would not worry about it. Just drive and enjoy.

It’ll be fine almost 10k miles after install and my pulley is fine after just using my electric impact on it with some blue loctite

Power has been there when I needed it and mileage has been more or less the same as before charger. On wide open throttle there is a shift hang between 2-3 gears and the weird stock Toyota shifting is still present. I have 4.88 gears so my throttle is limited to 96 mph. Overall I am happy with my purchase but I will be happier once this shifting is back to OVTUNE standards

anyone heard from Ryan at Magnuson recently? They / he went gone silent or got the axe. Sent an email two weeks ago about status on revision to V7. No response. Last contact reply months ago was they were working on it and would send / include .vfc software when released for those of us on .vft version.

Seems like the oil leak was some residue. I sprayed some brake cleaner all around and clean it with a rag a few times. I haven’t seen any oil. Now time to enjoy. Thanks everyone

Update: I haven’t put many miles since I installed it. Today I drove it and and couldn’t help but floor it once or twice. I don’t hear a whine, this blower is quiet. I was expecting it to be less loud then older ones but not this quiet. Can anyone hear theirs?

Seems like you have to be in the right circumstances to really make it whine. 30mph coasting to full throttle and you'll hear it

Nope, it is disappointingly quiet. I really like the older superchargers that sound like you have a bad power steering pump.

That’s why why I modified a Ford Mustang sound tube to liven up the whine and pipe it in the cabin a bit.

Not really you can measure a pretty significant number of decibels at the outlet in the cabin compared to before. It’s pretty obvious by ear too

it’s kind of a simple thing. The airflow and high frequency pulses in the intake cause the rubber diaphragm in the resonator to vibrate which amplifies the intake noise and pipes it into the cabin without letting in unmetered air.
Thousands of Mustang and FRS/BRZ owners remove them because they tend to be annoyingly loud on the highway.

It’s basically a kazoo at the end of a Helmholtz resonator.

I’m sure the people that can’t hear the whine will attest that mine is now louder too.
