I still write checks to pay bills, because I want control. I get paid every Friday by direct deposit. I like to keep the check book updated every week.

 

Small local CU we're with is the same way. No online pay so we either mailed a check or stopped by the branch and payed in person. That being said the last check I wrote was almost 2 years ago when we bought our house.

 

We have to write checks for some stuff at the store, beer deliveries can't be paid cash because of some of the drivers were stealing money and also being robbed depending on what area they deliver in.

 

There was a Pepsi driver robbed at the Giant in the wealthy part of the hood Monday 2 guys they took his phone, wallet, iPad used for deliveries and his personal back pack....

 

I'm sure Enterprise/Budget/Alamo etc. would frown upon me doing that but screw 'em!

 

The Bud driver has told me some stories when he used to deliver in High Point (rough with gangs and such), people stealing beer off the truck and stuff. Crazy what people will do.

 

I'm torn between options 3 and 4.

Last time we used the checkbook was to get the account and routing numbers off of it so we could set up the auto payment after refinancing the house.

And the mortgage was already sold AGAIN. At least they waited for us to make one payment this time.

 

People are dicks.

lol.... A lot of the UPS drivers with seniority wont deliver to the rough parts of town here then the new drivers make it a week and quit because there is no route for them.

 

I write check for all the bills I pay, my wife pays her bills online (separate accounts).
Also...I use my debit card only to get cash, and cash is what I use for gas, sodas, chew and just everyday stuff.

A few yrs back 2010 we at the Hampton Inn High Point even thing was okay then we were getting stuff out of the car then gunfire erupted @ McDonalds in the parking lot across the street.... Next morning we see cops all over place 3 cars had been hit with bullets one of them 2 cars away from us.

 

My "rule" is

$5 or less - cash
$5 or more - Visa

The cash back from Visa at the end of the year is nice but also disconcerting when you start to think of how much you had to have spent to get that much back.

 

I have a friend who was a High Point police officer, I ask him once why so much shooting in High Point, he said gangs/drugs and when they get on the scene nobody knows nothing and nobody seen nothing. He quit last year, I don't blame him.

 

85 between Lexington and Richmond is a little scary

 

If a vehicle is just a means of travel to you get what makes the most sense to you -- economy, comfort, size, etc.

However if you drive for pleasure -- rent what excites you the most and enjoy the experience. (this is me)

 

Mowed grass at brother joes place on my day yesterday, met up with the farm who hays fields near where we mow. Talked/watched him for alittle bit to relax. Good day it was
