HID's right or wrong

8k heads and 4.5 k fogs, when i do my projectors it will be 6k

 

Anything I do I do right the first time. Biggest pet peev I hate redoing things. So to finish, If I aim my 8000k's properly in the stock housing then I will have excellent lighting and not cause oncoming traffic to swerve in my direction?

 

8K is for morons anything over 4300 is dimmer. 5K is dimmer than 4300 and 6K is 50% less output than 4300.

Next, putting HID in the stock reflector housing is 100% illegal in all 50 states. I pull people over for it all the time. Have statred writing tickets for it where I used to give warnings. More and more people seem to be doing this and its the worst in lifted pickup trucks. Its easy to give them tickets becasue NO pickup trucks come stock with HIDs and they are the ones who blind the worst.

If you want to do it right the first time use a XENON reflector housing, like a projector. Use 4300K bulbs. THat is doing it right and anything else is wrong and illegal.

 

another false statement. 8000K do not produce more lumens than a 4300K oem bulb. period

they have more glare than oem, thats why they appear brighter

 

so confused...

I dont care what they look like looking at them, I want to know if they can light up the road in front of me at night times. And would I get massive glare back at me during snow storms?? (I live northern canada)

Edit: I can easily enough turn off my hi's for oncoming traffic

 

bottom line is the most usable light is 4300K. 5000K is the highest you should ever want to go. 6000K is blueish white(less lumens than 4300K). if you want the cool color and don't care about actual light then go with 6000K or whatever you want. Keep in mind, it will shine even whiter when its snowing. i have my own recommendations, but its your truck. i'm only stating facts

 

oh well thats why i'm doing projectors, and if i need more light i have my offroad lights behind the grill and am putting on a led light bar

tbk224(tim) is doing his projectors as we speak, i might buy his if he chooses to do another set. also the led light bar will be amber in color for driving in sowy/stormy conditions

thanks! also i'm hesitant to put my piaa lights behind my grill because i have a billet grill, any input?

 

sounds like it will block the lights a little. i would mount them where there is very little in front of them and easy to get too. over time, they will get dirty and covered with bugs which will also cut down on there usefullness, unless you can get to them and wipe the off every so often

 

i am doing it behind my grill because i dont want a light bar or anything, and the led's are going into my lower valence

 

maybe a satoshi(spelling?) would be better than a billet grill. less of an obstruction

 

hey guys, quick question... i've got a speedway blue tacoma and i'm looking to get HID's that go well with the blue of the truck. Should i go with 8k or 10k? Anybody do a setup like that?

 

or would 6k be just fine?
