Well, going to start posting research in here as an easy way to go from laptop to phone.

My wife told me I needed to get a new car. Can do lol

The new to me deep f*cking value car search is on!

    First up, things I want:
    • AWD
    • Backseat room for kids
    • leather
    • heated seats
    • not slow as molasses
    • Decent gas mileage

    Sooo I'm looking at Lexus IS250s and IS350s and H6 Legacy's.

I'd love an AWD turbo wagon but in north America you only get German cars that fit that descriptions and I refuse to buy a German car. Unless GME moons soon so I can buy a V10 R8 :)

We just got a RAV4 prime, plug in Hybrid. We have about 1600 miles and only 1 fill up. There are tax incentives and some states offer rebates.

Most likely, but hopefully my forester is too.

I'm looking to keep it under $20k so the 2011 with only 33k miles is super appealing. And ironically enough I like the interior and exterior better than the 2014 and 2015 ones lol

Test drove this is250 last night.

I’m way too tall to fit in the upright seating position I like. Head touched the headliner while driving lol

My wife wants me to get a new Rav4 but I really am not a fan of crossovers lol.

My friend's mom had the old highlander and it was always super comfy and never had any issues

We shopped rav4s about 10 years ago, never thought I would buy one, but we are really liking our prime. We are now pushing 1700 miles, and filled the tank once. It has 40 to 50 miles EV range and lugs into a normal 120 outlet. I wouldn’t buy a ICE rav4 and I’d think the Highlander would be a big commuter.

    That's pretty amazing!

I'm really looking at Outbacks now. I got the green light to lower one if I got one. I really just want a normal wagon, but unless you go German there's nothing out there.

Our outback is great, we got that after having VWs. My wife was not happy I wouldn’t buy another VW at the time, but grew to love it, and we considered getting another. Now my son is driving it.

    Options:

Used 2013 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited | 35k miles, $18500 - Called and I'm getting a video sent of it currently, needs detailed yet - looks like the previous owner was a pig and is gross on the inside

Used 2015 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited | 65k miles, $21500 - called and they're sending me more photos, not a fan of the light interior and the photos in the as are taken with an actual potato

    https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d6643024-1938-4688-89b9-8b89a8aa095d/

Used 2016 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited | 33k miles, $22500 - called and they have my info, looks VERY clean but I'm not sure I want a sedan and not a wagon.

Used 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited | 70k miles, $25000 - not a fan of white cars or that light interior, but it looks like a decent deal

My plan is to have my next vehicle last as long as possible and pass it on to our kid (whenever we have one lol)

The Outback 3.6r had a ton of nice features, but drove like an overly plush recliner. The CVT was pretty annoying in my shirt test drive.

So I went next door and test drove the Alltrack and all I can say is I’m impressed. The 1.8t mated to the DSG actually pulled well enough and the electric assist steering felt great. It’s the SE model with driver assist so all the good features without annoying safety crap. The fender sound system was a great bonus too. Overall I didn’t have any expectations with this car but I actually really liked it. I might end up owning a VW this week

Oh, and clean carfax, local one owner bought in Harrisburg and serviced at the Harrisburg VW dealer. Already looking at simple mods like tint and rain visors :D
