yeah.. it floored me that parents were dishing out ~$1000 for a new set of tires after almost every lap and than turning around and selling them to other teams for ~$650-700. I think kids were getting new cars/chassis every season.. shit is ridiculous. LIKE $150-$200K FOR A kid to get into the sport

Yeah- I have a neighbor whose kid plays travel ball. My kid is 10 and showing an organic interest in baseball. I don't want to say "buddy, it's too late for you to start," but the reality is the ultra-competitive (and wealthy) parents have ruined the fun of the experience for other kids. I grew up poor AF and wanted to play ball. I raked yards to earn my league dues and walked across town to pay my dues each season. I walked to every practice and game, again, across town. I played for three years but spent most of my time sitting on the bench because my teammates were all on travel teams and carpooling to baseball camps. My parents came to a handful of games (<5 over three years) and were not in that same social circle. We go to the go-kart track and there are families with 28' race rigs, a dozen sets of new tires, and multiple karts set up so their kid can run every class. It's intimidating, for sure when all we want to do is have some fun and compete for wins.

Wrestling. The best poor man's sport... most after school gyms would cut a lower income family a deal (we paid $81 a month). But even without the extra school wrestling gyms, there is so much free opportunity and the team does are usually cheapest in the school. Only shoes and headgear required, as the school finishes the singlet.

Chastain and Suarez will likely remain at Trackhouse. Busch is likely going to 23XI in a second car.

Make sense for Chastain to go with the newly acquired team. Suarez is a good driver just needs some push and a new teammate surely will help. Trackhouse is ready to win so whatever decisions are made for a new driver will come with the mindset of ‘win now’

Interesting to see where Kurt goes. Hamlin has a multi year contract with JGR so driver owner is probably not in the cards.

Bubba is a marketing flop. Who knows how long his antics will last with 23X1

    Intersting off-season for sure!

Unfortunately due to his... umm... er... stature... he is gonna be rather hard to get rid of. He will never be anything other than a sub 20th place driver. And that's JGR equipment... so it definitely has more untapped potential.

I hear ya! I hope that is not the case. He’s horrible, bad for NASCAR and under performs. Seems like a recipe for a pink slip. But, we walk on eggshells now in society so….

I can see Hamlin taking the 11 to 23XI at some point, maybe to make room for Ty Gibbs if nothing else opens up. But who knows. The team definitely needs to develop some more before that and Kurt would definitely be the guy to help that process along.

Say/think what you like about Bubba but it isn't truly JGR equipment like people like to make it out to be. They're affiliated and many of the employees are from Levine Family Racing, but it's still hand-me-down equipment with very little refinement. It needs some time and revenue to get improvement. I think adding Kurt to the team would definitely go a long way toward furthering that along though. Especially with his experience and his success.
