Removing driver seat to install amp

hey all,
i just bought a 4 channel amp that i want to place under my driver side seat. now, just by looking at the seat i only see 4 bolts holding them down in the corners. seems easy enough, but just wanted to see if there's anything else i should be aware of before i begin? ex. airbags? thanks!

oh yeah, i have a 2010 TRD SPORT double cab.

 

Once you unscrew the 4 bolts on the seat there will be 3 cables that need to be unplugged under the seat. I know one of them deals with the airbag light/system and not sure about the other two. Also, when I tried removing the black one, it was clipped to the bottom of the seat permanently if I remember correctly?...so I just snapped it off since it really doesn't matter. Here are some pics of the amp I installed last summer...

Ok that's what I was thinking it was gonna be. One more question, where did u put your ground? I was thinking I could just sand one of the 4 bolt hole areas and ground it there? Think that would be cool? Btw thanks for posting pics too.

Oh, and I see you took of the center console trims. Did they just snap right off or is there some kind of process to removing it ( I plan to run my signal and remote wires along the center trim.). Thanks!

 

i grounded mine to one of my seat bolts

 

As a general precaution you should remove the battery ground before unplugging the airbag connector. This would be the yellow connector. I installed my amp in the same place with no problems.

The trim pieces on the door sill just pop out. It might sound like they just broke when you pop them out but it's just how they are designed. As for the center console, the silver piece around the shifter just pops straight up/out. I use the "pencil tray" (that's what I use it for during school) to grip and pull it up. Then there's a quite a few screws that hold the center console in if you are thinking about removing that completely.

Oh, I grounded the amp wire to one of the screws in the door sill area where there were some other wires grounded. Doesn't matter where you ground it as long as it's cleaned up like you were planning on doing .

 

There are a couple little loose springs in the airbag connector that are easy to lose when you disconnect it. Put 'em in a ziploc or somesuch until ready to reassemble.

 

In your 2010, it isn't just airbag *sensors* you're disconnecting, it is the side impact airbags that are contained in the seatback. Be reasonably cautious with the seat and the connectors.
