I replace mine when they fail state inspection. Of course they offer to replace to which I respectfully decline.

I got kabonged by the rear liftgate of a Chrysler minivan at Carlisle yesterday…

I’ve had an obsession with 1984-2000 Chrysler minivans for I’d say the last year or so; I am a member of a Facebook group called Underappreciated Survivors (1973-2000), and whenever I see a decent pre-2004 Chrysler minivan I take pictures. There was a mildly customized 2000 Chrysler Town & Country conversion van with only like 90K original miles at the MOPAR Nationals yesterday; The owner was an older guy (probably 60s or 70s) and even though it was barely past 11am he was drinking a beer…

So, I start taking pictures of this minivan, and the owner is showing me all of the cool stuff that’s been done to it; He takes me around back, where the rear liftgate is open. I don’t know what was going through his mind, but I think the fact that he was drinking before noon had something to do with it…

He told me he wants to show me something on the liftgate and he proceeded to close it while I was standing there…

    o_O

He slammed the liftgate into my head, which lead to a completely justified “Ow! Fuck!” from me; The couple who the next van over saw it happen.

I am not going to lie; About twenty years ago, when I was an angry autistic teen, I would have punched the guy! I ended up glaring at him and saying “Dude, what the fuck?!?!”

It was a total accident, and he was apologizing profusely, but he totally killed any interest I had in talking to him; He asked me if I wanted to sit down, but he got the message that I was understandably pissed at him and made himself scarce. The people at the next van over asked if I needed some water and I said no (I had a rolling cooler full of soda and water). My head hurt for several minutes but I wasn’t feeling dizzy or seeing stars, and I could remember my name, so I more or less walked it off…

    :itllbuffout:

Of all the stupid things to do though!

Guess I will be calling the tree guy to set up an appointment, still trying to recover from the price on the estimate.

The first estimate the guy gave me was $7200 plus tax and I about died, he wanted to clean out a bunch of small trees around the garage besides the ones I want removed. But he finally settled at $3600 plus tax for one complete tree removal next to the house, topping two trees over the garage, and trimming another beside the garage.

I dropped $1200 for one tree about 40 feet tall..but they only had to fell it. My neighbor scoffed the wood happily. I was fortunate it was right on the line of my yard and the other side neighbor so he paid half

Wow that was expensive for you too. I honestly had no idea what to expect on tree removal costs as I never needed the service, guess it really is that pricey. All the trees I need cut really need to go as the one is right beside the house and the others are huge and towering over the garage.

True..or as I say when asked why something is so expensive, "I guess that's how much it costs". I played the field and got several estimates on the job. Even with not having to remove the large stuff they still needed 4 guys, a crane and a chipper

One thing I legitimately miss about working at the detail shop was that I got to come in on days off and use the facilities to clean not only my truck but any vehicles belonging to immediate family members! Rain or shine, I would bring my truck to wash, vacuum, and often wax; Now, whether or not my truck gets cleaned is highly dependent on the weather…
