Conversation between my son and wife:

Son: "The next 4 days are going to suck. I work 3 10 hour shifts."

Wife: "It's good for you, builds character."

    Son: "Thanks, dad."

Guess I may have said that in the past.

In his defense, sitting in the 90 degree sun for 10 hours does have a tendency to drain a guy.

I would have said “at least it’s not 4 10 hour shifts”. Same response from him though

I do most everything with debit/credit. The only check I write regularly is my water bill because I don't trust the town's bill pay system. They also charge a transaction fee. I'll write a check for service jobs where it doesn't appear the on-site person can take a credit card. Most recently, the roofer and tree removal service.

Personally, I'd skip the Jeep, especially if it's a Wrangler. I've had a few on work trips because I need 4x4, and I find the seats to be uncomfortable and the cab to be cramped.

I would have loved to write a check for my house down payment, instead of the 3 hr round-trip drive to get a cashiers check.

Avis didn't seem to mind with I did this to their Jeep. I told the person when I turned it in that I had already submitted the damage form, and I went on my marry way. It took them nearly a year to send a bill for the damages. I forwarded it onto work.

I'm not sure if he sits, stands, kneels or rolls around in the grass but he works at a local place getting people buckled into go carts then pulling them off the wall when they spin out.

Every hour he switches off to the bumper cars. No need to pull people off the wall for that one, though. :p

Point taken, and I won't argue but a Carolla is just so damn vanilla. And I already just about broke a brand new Mustang trying to get to that beach.

I know it's probably the "boring" option but maybe go for a 4Runner or Tacoma. I enjoy those when I get them and prefer the 4Runner. I had a Camry on one trip that was nice. I made a couple 6 hr round trips to visit relatives when I had to stay over a couple weekends, and it was comfortable. Two weeks ago, I had a Kia Sorento, and I really enjoyed it. It had plenty of room, was comfortable, and had good power. It was AWD with a locking center diff to make it 4wd. It handled the muddy, dirt roads I was on without a problem.

I'm pretty well versed in rentals. At this point in my life, I've started getting different cars kind of just because I can. Last time on the Big Island I opted for a Cadillac XT4 (too small for the 4 of us and beach stuff), the time before was the Mustang. We've had a Corolla in the past so I just want something different. If I regret it, it's only for a week and I won't do it again. :p

Renting a Jeep for a week, while fun, will remind you how impractical they are as a daily driver.

A shame the engine Compartment does not look as good as the rest.

Out of sight no need to make it look good .

I use a couple of gas cards and a couple of CC's that I pay with a check each month.
Around home grocery stores and Walmart just use my debit card.

Well that never gets driven in any Snow Storms unless the stock air cleaner is put back on.

That was a interesting lesson I learned quite long ago when the air cleaner element froze solid .

    No air no combustion.
