I tried searching but this is pretty specific so I could see it being hard to find.

I bought a 2000 ext cab 5vzfe 4wd with a 5 speed, trying to find out if the part number (82121 3D502a) I have is for the engine wire harness is a common one or if it matters and there are other engine wire harnesses with different part number that are compatible, like one from a 97 model year with the same specs.

This truck has a factory installed supercharger, not sure if that made a difference, doesn’t seem like it would. Do like power windows, doors etc make a difference?

The issue I’ve got is the plug ends that go inside the cab to the ecu (there are 3 plugs total at the cab end) are brittle from the truck sitting out in the weather for a long time.

It’s possible they sell just the plug end but haven’t found info on that either.

Any help would be appreciated, I’ve got a big project restoration

What is wrong with the Current Harness??

It might plug in but there will be things different .

You need the same part # to work with your ECM.

Get another year Engine Harness and ECM and convert your engine to that year .

Or you have The EWD`s from both years and go circuit by circuit and move wires as needed.

Not hard just time consuming one needs piece and quiet.

my toyota parts person told me the following this is the part number : 82121 3D502, he said the "A" does not appear in the parts listing, unfortunatly is is discontinued but there is good news, a harness from 1995 to 2002 will fit but it has to be for the same motor, if your is a 3.4, then you have to find another 3.4 harness. The only other modificatios is the trim level of the truck. If yours has ABS and cruise, you have to find a harness that has ABS and cruise. He stated that a higher trim level harness will just have plugs that dont go anywhere.

Where people get frustrated is they get the harness from different vehicles that have a 3.4

Only thing I see that’s wrong at this point is the release clips on the plugs are brittle and a couple have cracked.

I see the issue being if I treat this new truck like I do my current it’s going to see rough terrain at moderate speeds so there will be vibration and if those clips aren’t going to hold I’ll have significant problems so the main thing I want to do is change out those plugs.

I researched a bit and think I found something at a local shop that supplies a lot of oem parts. C8B9B17E-BEC7-4400-B520-6B9088024E61.jpg450D57F6-15FA-404E-A491-510F363551BE.jpgF49DB701-20C8-498C-84E4-3324205CD044.jpg I’ve compared these to the plug ends the existing harness has and there are subtle differences, so not sure they’re an exact fit, but Yotashop been a good resource in the past so hoping they’re a match.

It seems like a heavy handed solution to depin and reconnect the new plugs just because the current plug ends are brittle, but I’m planning on going through this engine and the supercharger thoroughly because it’s sat for a few years according to the guy I bought it off

The one on the right, I can't seem to find a match. I will update if I do. These are from a 2000 5vzfe.

@caribe makaira do you have 1st Gen specs too?

OP, for sure de-pin and re-pin. Practice on your spare. Small screwdriver or de-pinning tool or caribe likes leather hole punches. Sounds like all you need are a few connectors. Take photos and then draw up a diagram with graph paper and crayons for the colors.

One connector at a time and test everything in between for a week or two.

Yes, 2000 5vzfe 5 speed 4wd with factory installed supercharger, mentioned in first post.

I’m looking for replacements, any chance you know a source for those plug ends or have part numbers?

You used to be able to buy the plugs from Toyota but the age is going against you.

Are you sure those Pictures are the real part from Yota Shop and not just a generic picture?

With Trucks this old surprises in parts are not uncommon get the part # from your ECM and see what year that is and go from there.

Wow for a couple cracked clips I have used a dab of Silicone as a temporary fix going on quite a few years because it is working fine and more important things to do.

then as this looks to be a major restore you have time to repin all the plugs needed.

Any Harness used will more then likely be in the same condition.

I think these are all correct, but please look carefully. I don't know a source. Maybe someone else does.

The last 5 digits should be on the plug.

The 90980 is the prefix used for the electrical connectors

This is really what I needed, dude, you’re a lifesaver, don’t know why I didn’t look closer at this earlier. I looked for part numbers on the plugs but couldn’t find any.

These were all available on an online OEM parts distrutor for $50 and some change.

I was hunting for ECM connectors on eBay and a bunch of them came up at around $40 for a set, then some asshole had what I was looking for but was selling it for $200- may he rot in hell
