    Oh yeah, definintely I agree

Therein lies the problem, its just when a Pit goes predator its that 110% you speak of thats the issue, they are so focused on what they;re doing they just don't seem to hear or see anything else except what they're fighting/attacking & it takes 220% to get them to release.

But ANY breed can bite/attack at ANY given situation, either by reaction or random...

U could own pits or golden retriever, u never leave dogs alone with kids. The dog could give his life for U (owner) cause he sees u as the alpha. I have a golden retriever and a shar-pei, my golden retriever will kill anything that's not human but loves people especially kids cause he loves to get pet but I'm always near and watching him. My sharpei on the other hand has an attitude with everyone and I'm always on the look out.
I don't think is the dogs fault, the owner is always responsible. If ur dogs are aggressive cause that's the way u raised them, well u know the day they get loose something bad will happen.

This just happened a 2 months ago in my neighborhood. I am outside washing the car and all of a sudden i heard these screams like i never heard before. I run across the street because I thought like somebody was getting killed, mugged, raped what ever.

Our new neighbors that moved in had pit bulls, one of them jumped the fence and grabbed the other neighbors puppy by the throat and was viscously thowing it like a rag toy. The screams were the neighbors daughter ( 17 yrs old) trying to save her puppy. Yes she was bitten too, but because she got in the way of the attacking pit bull. She was not the target and I didnt know that when I first got there, she was bloodied from all of her dogs blood.

When I arrived the pitbull owner was running out as well, we both arrived at same time. This pitbull would not listen to any of the commands of the owner. So I grabbed a 2 x 4 board laying nearby, I had the daughter screaming in one ear save my dog, save my dog, I had the owner screaming dont hurt my dog. I was torn. I started hitting the pitbull with all my might trying for it to release, it would not. As mentioned above it was FULL on this dog was literally FULL on.

The owner says the pitbull was with him 7 yrs, never attacked. I am not taking sides here, but I truly believe this owner was responsible and yet this dog still attacked. I didnt kill the pit, I must it hit hard enough to knock it senseless enough for it to let go of the other dog. The other dog, received I think 81 stiches, and daughters cuts did not require. They are now suing each other for medical bills for dog, they want me to get involved...I told them both I wont.

I did tell the owner, if his dog attacks my dogs or my young son on my property, with out the shadow of any doubt I will put it down. I also told my son not to go in that area with our dogs either. I am only hoping this owner stays responsible. He has not left them out since.

Big dog, little dog Pitbull or Poodle, doesn't matter if I raised a dog from pup to adult & understanding the Alpha dog mentality pretty much, if my dog was involved in an attack . If my dog did not respond or even acknowledge my presence , I would get rid of that dog.

If the pit next door gets out and threatens me, my mom or her dog ever again, it will taste more than my steel toe boot. Had I been carrying when it charged at my mother, that's where it or any other dog would have taken it's last breath. My house, my yard. I'm the alpha male.
There's a reason that 11 of the 16 dogs that killed in the first 6 months of 2010 were pits. And they were family dogs.

I don't care if you call me ignorant, I have had a horrible experience with a Pitbull. My dad and I were walking our Bernese Mountain dog in our neighborhood one evening, and all the sudden a Pitbull rushed us out of nowhere. I can say my dad and I were fortunate enough to not be the initial target of the Pitbull; same couldn't be said for my dog. We rushed to the vet and he got several stitches and shots. I heard a few months later after this attack the same dog killed a litter of Golden Retrievers, 5 puppies dead. I'll tell you I was fucking scared for my life; seeing the blood on the ground, and that ball of fur darting towards us will never leave my mind.

If you own a Pitbull, all I can say is just take care of it. I honestly think you're ignorant if you think you have complete control over an animal; domestic or not.

The evidence continues to pile up, regardless of what the truely 'ignorant' want to ignore while they're head is firmly positioned up their ass.

Breaks your heart everytime you read another story of a little kid (often a family member) or someone walking down the street attacked.

    No reason for it.

Let's not forget the countless number of elderly people that are mauled, maimed or killed every year because they too are to helpless to defend themselves.

You must be someone that has never had a pet growing up. All animals can bite and/or be aggressive. It is not the breed, it is the owner. My 10 month old 65 lb Pit is gentile. He sleeps in bed next to us every night. We had him in training classes when he was 4 months old. He is one of the best pets I have ever had.

Yes, it is a tragedy that the little girl was killed. But, don't blame the dog, blame the owner.

The previous pics look familiar. My pup loves to relax like that on the couch also.

What pisses me off is people who post this kind of crap just to stir the pot against bully breeds!!!!! You never see "Golden retreiver mauls old woman" but it happens with EVERY BREED!!! Dogs bite in fear pain or anger. They dont have thumbs to defend themselves with they use what they have. We as people choose to have them in our lives. Unfortunatly some people think its cool to raise an attack or guard dog. These people are the problem!!!!!!

PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't allow this guy anywhere near my dogs. And I think dogs mimic their owners. Punk owners have punk dogs, breed is next to irrelevant. I've had crossbreed wolves who actually helped a cat mother move her litter... carried the babies in their mouths gently.

The owner of the killer pits needs to be on trial for manslaughter.

My best friend has one of the laziest most loveable, staffordshire terriers I've ever met. Her name is Lola. She's overweight and mopes around the house most of the day looking for a place to nap. There have been a couple instances though where something triggered her to become one fierce terrier. For whatever reason she doesn't like other animals. He brought her to work one day and the owner of the business also had his mutt there and the instant Lola saw the other dog she latched on to it's neck and was lock jawed enough not to let go until my best friend squeezed her neck enough to stop her breathing until she let go. She also hates his old landlord for whatever reason, and she would start growling as soon as he pulled in to his dooryard, I guess she could smell him or something.

My live-in bestfriend/girlfriend adopted a pitbull mix from an animal shelter. Besides his sheer size and playfulness he's one of the kindest dogs I've ever met. If you do something stupid like poke him in the eye or take a knife to his tail or something he'll nip at you don't get me wrong, but this dog wouldn't hurt a fly. He plays chase with my 35 pound puggle daily, (He's also easier to walk then the puggle). We did have one instance of him scaring the living daylights out of a woman who was walking by with her dog. Somehow his invisible fence collar let him through and he walked up to them and tried to entice her dog into a game of chase by jumping around and playfully nudging and nipping at the dog. I heard some sort of blood curdling scream, and found him across the street. I said his name once and he knew that he had done wrong, he ran back to the house and immediately went to the door to go inside. She admitted he hadn't hurt either one of them, but her dog was older, and they were both frightened. This is a sad story though.

Here's some pics of our pitbull mix.

Tragic, both the death and the ignorance displayed by some here.

My wife had two rescued pits, that she tells me were the nicest, dogs one could ever meet. She referred to them as her pit-chickens because they were so docile and would hide behind her when someone unfamiliar came to the door.

I have personally been put in the hospital by a dalmation, my friend by a yellow lab. Dog attacks happen all the time, the pits seem to get the press though.

I've had experience with many breeds, from Sheltie to wolf cross. I never met a Pit who was aggressive. I have, however stared down a Malinois charging my family, and later attacking my dogs. I even tackled him once when he attacked my smallest pup, had him in a scissor hold and would have broken his neck if he hadn't squirmed out of my grip and run. I confronted his owner on many occasions, filed many complaints, and the SPCA finally took the dog from him, and put it down.
Dogs act the way they're trained.
