seems like prinsu racks are the only “fitted” style roof rack that i can find, is there any kind of cheaper option for one that follows the body lines like the prinsu?

Sorry, this is probably not the response you were hoping for but wanted to echo the same question. Looking at rooftop mount for 2 kayaks that use the design that already exists for mounting on the roof. Hope you get a response, but the Prinsu does look good, just sooo expensive.

Sherpa Equipment Co. should meet your needs also, but I don't think you'd save any money. I believe you can buy them direct or from C4 fab

I just put my Martin Offroad rack on last night. Very similar to the Prinsu. I ordered on 6/30 and it was delivered on 7/15 - not a bad turnaround considering July 4th fell right in the middle. Everything seems to be high quality. A nice touch was that each cross member was individually wrapped to prevent them rubbing on each other during shipping.

I found this on ebay. Not endorsing it or anything because I know nothing about it but another option to consider. I'm going to check out those others also.

Looks good. Do you have a pic from the top showing the crossbar nearest the shark fin? Are they adjustable at all? My 11/19 MFG date has the fin moved foward (ie. the OEM rack isn't an option).

Thank you! Actually that's better for my issue as my fin is moved about 2" foward from that. How's the install on the Martin Rack?

Install is pretty much exactly the same as the Prinsu (I watched a prinsu video) and is pretty easy. It basically boils down to:

    1. Pull up roof weather stripping/molding and remove the tape covering the factory bolt holes, drill/cut holes in the weather stripping/molding for the spacers
    2. Assemble roof rack
    3. Put silicone in the bolt holes, place spacers on, then place your assembled rack on roof and bolt down.

Too bad these don't come with predrilled molding. Every install video I've seen, they made mess when drilling.

Maybe, maybe not. You could clip the little metal band from underneath and then hole punch it i suppose.

Gentlemen, thanks to this forum, I just purchased a Martin offroad roof rack. It will be primarily for transporting two kayaks, on 11' one 10.4. I am looking for J-hooks to do, folding, but they all seem to be a bit different in their mounting style and requirements. has anyone installed j-hooks on their Martin rack?
