My 2nd gen has a wider track with these wheels and, combined with my suspension upgrade, handles turns at speed much better than before. The truck used to feel top-heavy, post-lift on stock tires & wheels. After mounting these wheels on 265/75r16 Cooper Discoverer ATs, the handling was vastly improved.

 

What's everyone running for aftermarket leaf springs? My tent is in, and I wanna go ahead and get a new pack before installing. I was looking at Dobinson, but doesn't look like I'll get them anytime soon if I ordered today...

 

I've been pleased with my Dakar pack. I'm probably going on 5 or 6 years and they are showing their age, but I got the medium pack and have the AAL to make it a heavy. I'm hoping the AAL will give me back a little height. Overall, I'd definitely purchase them again.

I wouldn't get anything with fewer leafs than the Dakar pack, FWIW.

I think Ironman either is or was doing 25% off.

 

Thanks for the info. How much constant weight you holding with those? I was looking at them, but thought I'd get some input from people who have em first. I also saw the icon multi-rate RTX pack that comes with an extra leaf(s) too. Both not too pricey and free shipping + not tax atm from 4WP.

My use has varied from zero extra weight to carrying probably 200lbs. You could visually tell that the weight was there when you knew what it looked like without it, but it handled it just fine. I don't really have a lot to compare them to, but I'd buy them again.

I've overloaded them on a number of occasions hauling over 3k pounds in the bed, which is not recommended.

Also, FWIW, mine are the CS047R (old design) and not the EL095R (New design).

 

Did you seem to loose mpg with going wider, gain with going lighter or basically it's a wash and stayed about the same?

My mileage didn’t nosedive until I put a Prinsu roof rack on. I used to chart my mileage and peaked at 23mpg.

 

Nice man. I currently have stock wheels with 265 75 16 and a camper shell. I get around 390 miles per tank.

 

I got like 400-420 when I was stock. Now I'm down to about 300. If I could go back and do it again, I wouldn't have done near as much to my truck as I have.

 

To me range is one of the most important things. Not only for daily driving but even more so on adventures. I've gotten pretty far into the middle of nowhere kentucky and not see a gas station for a long time. You start to worry a little. Lol

 

I wish I can center the fairlead but I'm pretty sure SOMETHING might go wrong since the winch itself is off centered by an inch correct? Can someone chime in on this?

 

Same, though now I have 140k miles and need to replace plugs again. Skid plate, roof rack, sod topper, steps, recovery kit, wife & kids, my fat butt. It all adds up.

 

Good Lord, I have been getting 300 miles a tank from the jump. I’d kill for 400.

You would be fine. My crawlers fair lead wasn’t lined up after I bashed the front so much. I never had an issue, using the winch regularly. However you will need to pay attention to it spooling back in, but to be honest that should be done anyways.

 

That's what I'm leaning towards now honestly. Looks like most people have em in stock, and Matt's got them where he works for a great price. Just picked up the tent this morning too, now to grab some bars for mounting.

 

Just my 2 cents but I have been working with a similar dilemma. My Deavers are amazing but are not enough lift. Even with the stage 3 pack they only provide 1” of lift unloaded. So I would still need my 1” block to remain level. You might have a similar problem. This is why I am most likely going to go with the Dobinson leafs. More lift with more options for constant load.

 

Are you rolling stage 3 or 2? I mean I got a camper, decked, Fridge and gear. I couldn’t imagine wanting more lift in the rear. I could clear 35s easy back there.
If you roll with the Dobinsons, with a heavier duty pack, I can only imagine the ride would be harsh. I because Deaver already uses a massive progressive leaf stack, and the only way to lift it, is gonna be to added stiffer leafs. You can’t arch them anymore with thicker leafs.
I would roll will an added block if I needed another 1” out of it, before I would swap my leafs.
