They kinda are. Most bridges are not attached at the ends to allow for shrinkage/expansion with temperature and movement during quakes.

Neither. Trucks are heavy. A fully loaded dump truck even heavier. Semis can go up to 80,000lbs. So 40 tons x 55-85mph = a ton of force or about 6 feet of movement.

There's adjusting for shrinkage and then there's relocating to a new zip code...

Louisiana is kinda close to Florida, right?

Louisiana man ‘bored’ in traffic jumps from bridge in viral stunt video, says he barely survived

A Louisiana man bored in traffic jumped fully clothed into the alligator-infested Atchafalaya River from an interstate bridge on Friday and now says he’s lucky to be alive.

“I started going under and almost drowned a few times. I really and truly thought it was the end of my time,” Jimmy Ivan Jennings, 26, told the Daily News in a phone interview Monday. “I asked God for forgiveness. I forgave everyone in my life. It was hectic.”

The Lafayette resident said he had been stuck in standstill traffic for at least two hours due to a multi-car collision up ahead, so he jumped from Basin Bridge on a lark. The plan was that he’d quickly swim to the shore, climb back up and meet his friend at the next exit, he said.

“We were bored inside the truck... I looked down (at the water), and it didn’t seem too far,” he told The News. “As soon as my fingertips came off that side, I was like, ‘Oh my god, this was the stupidest idea.’” posted by his friend Khory Vaughan shows Jennings sprinting to the railing and hopping over before spinning in the air and crashing into the water.

“I was just high on life everything was going my way and I’ve seen people do it before only I remembered after I jump(ed) that was in movies,” he wrote in a Facebook comment.

“Once I hit the water, my mouth busted open and I hurt my left arm. I tried to swim to the shore, but the current was too strong,” he told The News, adding that he ended up having to tread water for nearly three hours.

“An hour and a half in, I was so tired of swimming. My left arm went out,” he said. “I turned onto my back and would push with my right hand and my legs whenever I went under. I was praying the entire time.”

Finally the current weakened enough that he was able to crawl onto the shore. He stumbled around barefoot until he found a four-wheel ATV that helped him soon realize he was on a small island.

He then borrowed a boat to reach another shore. Eventually, authorities found and handcuffed him.

“They got me with criminal mischief and some other charges,” he said. “It was crazy to do what I did. But after the fact, after realizing it was a bad idea, everything else I did was in pure survival mode.”

He promised he’ll never attempt anything similar in the future.

“I don’t even want to swim anymore,” he said.

...^^^... A lot of wild hogs in southern Georgia ... that's were "Hogzilla" comes from ... supposedly .

Anyway, my buddy hunts them and said they will charge you from a concealed position in a bush close to you.

He uses 12 ga slugs and a minimum of a .357 mag as a pistol backup. He also uses some higher caliber short barrel rifles too.

Out near my brother in Abilene they like .308 from helicopters. You can run out of ammo trying to get a whole pack (herd? flock?) of the MFers.

    Yeah.
Apparently it is called a "sounder." No way would I want to be on the ground in the bushes close to them, helicopter sounds like a smart move.

The helicopter is because out in west Texas they don't let humans get within 200 years of them. You need sniper skills (or a pack of dogs - look that one up) to hunt the stupid things.

Excuse me - they aren't stupid. They're smarter than we give them credit for being.

    *sniff* *sniff*

    I smell a complainer.

My brother was a flight engineer on the C-130Hs, and then first sergeant in one of those squadrons. He loves it out there, mostly because he got there after 8 years at Travis as an FE on C-5s.

No one's ever tried to shoot at them in Abilene. The same can't be said for the Vacaville and Fairfield areas.

I had no idea there were so many of them in the south until I saw a deal on 60 minutes about them. Damn, there are hundreds of thousands of them, and they breed like rabbits.
