I would also buy one. Wife has even told me to buy one. On the fence until I put in the work and find an independent tuner in Denver that can use VF

I agree with your analysis of how Magnuson may be processing our requests/complaints about their flawed Tune. For them it is not broke - simple as that. Sad that it is a simple fix that .vfc (Mat) has provided and Magnuson won't take the 30 seconds it takes to make necessary change. As for putting together a list - maybe a Magnuson Satisfaction Thread ? Pretty sure the MT guys/gals don't have the issue we have - but they likely have rev hang and other items that annoy them and they wish would be corrected.

All potential buyers need to be discouraged from purchasing the Maggy SC until Maggy incorporates the shifting logic patch released in the new .vfc software - which Magnuson uses and has full access to. The Magnuson Satisfaction Thread could assist in providing actual user reviews, and maybe videos, of the issues that if fixed would make the Magnuson SC a true 10 out of 10. ??

I will call them - but I am pretty sure all they do in the install and flash the Maggy provided tune. I will report back.

I like a good challenge. Trying to get these read before grad school starts back up. Vf did a really good job with the FI guide for the 3.5L too. Will definitely need the help of a dyno shop when the time comes but need to learn me some EFI before that step is taken.

Apparently there is a dude in Canada named Victor that one of my shops here uses for all things maggie tuning (they used him for the tundra swap on their 4runner). Need to get more info but if anyone knows this Victor in Canada lmk lol :tinfoilhat:

I did not see it on the .vft forum site - but maybe you have to be logged in or be a Dealer ? Sooner or later someone is going to deliver a tune that we can all (MT/AT) say YES to.

I was working with Kevin. He said he'd let their calibration team know.

That’s the rep that’s been responding to my emails for the last month or so. I never got any further than trying to understand their tuning calibration process.

Don't hold your breath. He told me that months ago after I provide the unlocked 2.0 Final OVTune for 04B04 Tune with my correspondence. His answer was it (the shifting logic) affects emissions. I told him yes their shitty shifting logic does affect emissions - negatively. Nothing since.

A Magnuson rep alluding to alterations in shifting would relate to emissions *might* be indicative of their hesitancy. By all accounts getting those certifications is time consuming and therefore expensive. Dangerous to risk losing that certification.

If that is the case, Magnuson might be better releasing the tune file itself into the wild so that others could modify it further for "off-road/racing only". This would allow them to avoid any discussion on whether what they submitted for certification had subsequently been corrupted - thereby losing certification. This would likely mean that they would need to sell the tune as a separate product or license/sell it to another tuner to do so. Bundling the tune with the SC would likely be seen by authorities as an invitation for street use.

As far as providing a tune themselves, they likely don't want to get into the same problem Orange Virus did; "no matter what we do, we can't make everyone happy." And it's true, many users have different needs from each other.

The non-Magnuson tunes by after market tuners do indeed seem to be more universally liked than anything OV had been able to provide. Perhaps because they have been able to work from a base and focus on a single task (tuning).

Put me on the list of buyers of the SC when the Magnuson tune is available for other tuners to modify.

That pretty much mirrors my thoughts. I'm sure changing the tune would require recertification for CARB which is a big selling point for Magnusson. If I recall getting CARB certification was one of the delays in getting the product to market in the first place.

looks like you have to be a Pro / Dealer to see his FI Guide = pay more to see it, and only the Pro / Dealer version of .vf* have access to the other MAPS apparently needed for F.I. Tune development. Just wish he would see the light = do the tune and sell it but considering the shit storm coming in CA and it's impact on emission testing we should be happy we have a CARB. Could be the beginning of the end for some.

They don't have the EO CARB for new model Tacoma = so maybe they will implement the patch (s) in those new variations and get approval with them - if so the reverse engineering could make recertification of prior version of the Tune (now on V7 so there have been a few) easier and significantly less costly.

Just curious, what are you guys using for replacement belts? With my old 4.0 my belt would need to be changed every 10-15K miles
