LCA angle

Hello everyone! My 07 Pre-Runner has a three inch lift in the front and I noticed that my LCAs seem to be at a bit of a steep angle... I have tried googling to see if that's an issue or not (for longevity and component wear after the lift as well as driving comfort) but to no avail. I also notice that the other taco's running around my neck of the woods don't have this issue where their LCA's seem more parallel to the ground even though they're obviously lifted. I have thought maybe a "diff drop" or I guess cross member drop of sorts but I'm just not sure. (Yes I'm well aware the fact my truck is 2wd and doesn't have a front diff hence the " ") Attached is a couple different pics of the LCAs, along with the angle of the tie rod ends as well. Any help as to what to do (even if that's peace of mind) is much appreciated!

 

It's a pre-runner so you don't have a front diff so don't worry about that. As far as the angle goes, the biggest problem with that (assuming it will align properly) on 4wd models is the steep angle of the axle shafts. You don't have to worry about that either.
If it won't align, you'll have excessive tire wear but other than that, I can't think of any serious issues.

Looks almost like a nail in that right tire,could be a stone i suppose..

 

@winkel Thanks for the input! I haven't tried getting it aligned yet as I'm still waiting to do the UCAs... I haven't noticed any unusual wear on the tires and I've had the lift on for almost 1500 miles now. I'm not super concerned but just figured I'd ask. I'll wait to see what others say.

@whatstcp Its a 3 in. Rough Country lifted strut and my truck is a 4.0

 

Looks about par for the course. I’m a 2WD 4.0 as well. Check mine out here.
My kit is only a 2.5” not 3” but but I ended up with around 4.5” of lift all told. It’s nuts, I haven’t had issues with alignments or otherwise though.

Are those Coopers?

 

@ohcaltexscar That's good to know... Sweet looking truck man!! Yes they're coopers and I absolutely love them. I've put about 20k on them and driven coast to coast with no issues. I looked at your page, how hard was it to replace the rubber boot on your steering tie rod ends? My passenger side one is torn.

 

One should ask why the 3" lift?

 

Because one can have whatever they want

 

@01 dhrracer It seemed like a good fit for me. I want to put 33s on my truck without having to worry about bearings gaining too much extra stress.

 

I like my Coopers too, haven’t gone coast to coast with them but I have gone from Mexico to Canada!

Those boots weren’t too bad. Now I did remove the rack completely to work on other stuff so, it was easier. However there’s still plenty of access while it’s on the truck. It’s just zip ties on either end of the boot, still holding strong.
Mine are just Beck/Arnley replacements off RockAuto.

 

@ohcaltexscar Oh ok that seems easy enough!! I’ll probably be tackling that in the next weekend or two.

 

Negatives are ball joint strain, tie rod angles both will get accelerated wear.

Bump steer is another issue due to the angle of the tie rod ends.

 

He also has probably zero down travel.

 

Make sure the UCA is not contacting the coil spring at full droop.

 

@Superdave1.0 At full droop the UCA does contact the coil but I still haven't gotten the new UCAs so I'm hoping that will alleviate the issue. But this thread is more so for the LCAs and if there was anything I could do to not have such a downward angle if it was bad for my truck.

 

@01 dhrracer I have the perfect amount of down travel and lift to accomplish what I need. Stop hating
