Looking at those pictures I see a mid size truck and a full size truck.

I like the smaller one. Svelte is cool.

First was this one....1984 pickup, blue single cab long bed. Not mine, but same one.

    toyota-sr5-hilux-4x4-pickup-1.jpg

Then drove around one of these for a while (gifted to me by the old man when I was on hard times).

    1984 GMC Jimmy 6.2l diesel.

    ebay877134.jpg

Then when I could afford it, back to Toyota....

    Picture 022.jpg

Drove that amazing truck for 20 years. Picked up this one 4 years ago.

    20171027_091138.jpg

This one will likely be my last (at least I'm planning it that way. Keeping miles low, setting it up for my retirement "gettin' out there" rig). Oh, it may go at some point in favor of a Tundra as I age, or god forbid if it gets totaled and needs replacement, but the plan right now is to ride this one off into the sunset. If it stays reliable. Hoping for a good 20 more years service out of this one.

Had a few cars along the way....all Toyotas with the exception of a BMW back in 88 thru 91 while stationed in Germany, and another BMW not long ago when I was leaving the Gen1 parked for outdoors only duties due to advanced age and mileage.

Always been Toyota loyal. When I could. Given the choice, I wouldn't drive anything else. Had I millions in the bank, there would still be a Toyota in the drive (though it might be a kick assed mint fully reconditioned FJ40 or FJ43!).

Have a fondness for Toyotas and BMW's. Both excellent, quiet, well put together vehicles. Difference between Toyota and BMW's though is the Toyota is reliable. Loved the road feel and build quality of the Bimmers, but reliable they were not.

First Toyota was a brand new 1984 red 4x4 ExTra Cab with a 5speed and straight-4 22R motor. Had a straight front axle, locking hubs, no air conditioning and an am/fm radio. Drove it off the lot for $7,200.
Last Toyota (probably) is a brand new 2021 red 4x4 Access Cab with a 6 speed and 6cyl.
The little 84 went to - at the time - West Germany with me when I got stationed there. I drove it - with a crazy amount of paperwork - to West Berlin and then through Check Point Charly to east Berlin. Man you would have thought I landed from Mars in that thing in East Berlin.
I drove it to Switzerland, France, Austria, Lichtenstein and Luxembourg.
I have only just begun the adventures with the new one but I know it will also take me as far and as wide on the North American continent as I can go.
Hope you all have fun adventures too...;)
    Happy Motorin'
