Not sure if that’s necessarily true. The prerunner shaft I have has the same carrier that’s in my truck.

Only one way to find out. Bolt it up and go flex it out. If you start to feel bind then call it quits and take it back to shop.

Yes if the 2 sections are the same length you could do that it wouldn't hurt anything you'd just have an extra slip yoke. The 4wds are just different because the tcase has a bolt on flange. Every DS needs a slip yoke of some sort to prevent bind. The 4wds being "hard" mounted at the tcase and rear would bind up completely during flex so they put one where it makes sense on the side of the DS that actually moves with suspension.
All carrier bearings are designed to move some and will. I'd say it's more of a they use the same trans in the 5 lug one piece trucks and getting an entirely different rear tailshaft housing and output shaft of the trans just adds to less cross between models. You also gotta thing that 99.9% of trucks out there will never see the articulation or flex that they are capable of and even at that in stock form it's not as much as modified so probably the engineers figured it wasn't a problem. As long as they could make it to warranty and meet NVH requirements they'd be good.

This is true. I just jacked it up by the axle and the frame at full droop and didn’t hear any binding. I did notice the front yoke was expanding and compressing so i guess it is working. Not 100% I trust it yet if I were to go on a wheeling trip

That means it's pushing pretty hard on the CB you'll probably tear it and wear it out a lot faster than usual.

If you got that other rear section just throw that biotch on it should be the same length and work just fine. Just don't want to see you snap a u-joint or worse out wheeling if it gets in a bad enough bind.

So who's in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area?

As much as I've enjoyed working out in the middle of nowhere Talladega Springs/Sylacauga and on an awesome property of 3600+ acres.

I've accepted a job at the University of Alabama that'll start August 3rd. So I'll be moving quickly! More $, less hours, only work weekends if there's a football game at home. 4 weeks paid during winter break. I couldn't pass it up..

Oh yeah I forgot, its been so long since I got you to do some welding!

Actually will be under the college fresh umbrella company as Executive Chef over the ADPi house. Which may be difficult to get used to feeding 300+ 18-22 year old boujee young women.
