    My two dogs...

The big guy - Nero, was put to rest on Dec. 24th, 2010. He was an Italian Mastiff and was almost 1 1/2 years old. He started having violent seizures (I almost lost my thumb during one) and, due to vet's advice, had to be put down.

The little one - Roxy, is our dingo baby. She's 2 years old.

These two are pretty much inseparable too. Max is unusually timid for a Golden, and Olivia is a bit aggressive toward other dogs. This means neither one gets the socialization work they need, since I can't take them for individual walks. But they're both spoiled rotten sweethearts.

Here's Pete. He took his last breath last night lying on the den floor at the wife's feet getting his ears rubbed. He was a great dog. We had him since he was a baby. Gonna miss him. Cheers. Dammit all

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

When you talk to Pete tonight tell him " there are no goodbyes in life--only till next time" that time will come for the two of you to join together with him again....think positive I'm sure that is what he would have wanted.

As a dog lover, I know whenever I get a new dog, they're only good for a 10-15 year run at best. Then they're gonna leave you and break your heart. But you jump back in the game and get another one knowing it's gonna end the same. Why would anyone continually put themselves through this pain? It's because they're so fucking worth it while they're here. So, thanks for all your kind words and thoughts and do me a favor. Hug your dog and rub it behind it's ears tonight.
