I sent it to Heritage Arms in Loma Colorado. They inletted it and they make their own bottom metal. It was a package deal, with shipping back to me it ran around $280. There are several manufacturers out there that do this sort of thing. Below is the metal that I replaced.

Did your smith check the ramp angle? 20% of the time you do a M5 type bottom metal for a non-m5 gun, there is a feeding problem. If that’s the case then you might be tuning feed lips on the mag if reliability is a concern.

I loaded the magazine with five rounds and cycled it. It was flawless. I purchased a magazine with a binder plate which aids in round feeding. It's when you run mags with no plate you run into problems. What mag you run is determined by your COAL. The rounds I use are well within spec for a mag with a plate. I'm using an Accurate Mag magazine.

I’m not talking buying the wrong mag type or the front binder. I’m talking about the tolerance in the stock relative to he feed ramp and the magwell. The only fix is changing the angle to the lips, or a new stock.

Either way, doesn’t sound like it’s a problem for you, which is a good thing. Semper gumby.

I did notice the metal sits deep in the stock. I can only assume it was done this way to eliminate feeding issues.

Heck $280?! That's not bad at all, I've got an old 700 VTR I could probably have this done to!

I forgot to mention it cost me $25 to send it to them using USPS. It doesn't come with the magazine. Had to buy that separate. That ran around $65.

    Oh well then I'm out!!

    Haha, I'm kidding!

I've got lots of AICS mags already for rifle competitions, so I've got the expensive part out of the way already.

A beastly 12ga! I'd like to hear how it cycles with the 5rd mags and bigger capacity if you're going that route.

"The shotgun comes with two five-round magazines, but the same 9 and 19-round magazines that work in the VRBP 100 will work in the VR80, too."

I have been reading reviews and alot of people say if you use lower than the recommended fps it doesnt cycle well. But just recently saw that if you leave the ejector open, it softens the spring and allows for better cycling.

Your right the gas block is pretty close to the rail. I usually just run the BCM rail cover and use the c clamp method when shooting. The only vertical grip I have now is on my KAC RAS.
