I have looked at that and it has seemed like it would be nice but i think there was one reason i was thinking it wouldn't be good for me but i cant remember why. I should also note I do have the total chaos lca cam gussets. I will look into that slide rack kit.

Even with the cam gussets I would knock my alignment out all the time. I ended up just welding the cams in place after getting my alignment dialed in where I wanted since I do have the heimed uppers for adjustment as needed.

The steering rack is a weak point as well, but unless you are skipping teeth internally like I was then the rack won’t affect your alignment, just steering wheel position and steering angle. I went with the JD slide rack when I replaced my rack and haven’t had any issues since

I had TC cam gussets too….they didn’t do shit. Constantly knocked out my alignment with them.

Still learning but what exactly is the slide rack vs a swing set?
My plan was to tack the cams when im dialed in i have poly uppers. Definitely looking into the slide rack.
Was planning on tacking the cams.

Slide rack/ rack saver is a second steering rod that runs parallel to the steering rack. It reinforces the stock rack and puts it in double shear.

Swing steering is a completely different geometry that uses a steering box vs a rack. Look up the quixotic kit, his uses swing steering I believe. But you lose air conditioning with it

I checked and his doesn’t use swing steering but he has done it on a Tacoma before.
Go check out the jd shop. I’m sure he can answer all your questions.

So picked up a set of deavers h70 62 in springs for stupid cheap (main leaf on one was broken but rest looks good). Currently running chevy 63 main with a bastard pack. My plan was to run the h70 pack minus the main under my 63 main. I’m staying soa for ground clearance with a triple bypass. 6 in shackle below the frame.

main question is will I see any down side to staying with the 63 main vs ordering a new main for the h70 pack?

The geometry with a 62” spring is so good I’d consider getting a new main and remounting your springs. All I can think about is the silver sas’d terra crew first gen that does so well through whoops and crawling that has the same setup as you’re almost going with, with 62” f67’s meant for SUA but mounted SOA and I want to say 12” shackles above the frame.

    Here around 11:15

    https://youtu.be/2rTlx96YGWw

You’ll get 1-2.5” of lift over the f67’s I believe.

That said it would be more scientific to try out the 63” mains and see if it makes everything perfect lol.

If you had a 9" shackle do you think you could safely mount over the frame? I ask because I got a set of chromoly shackles I haven't found a use for yet and I'm currently setting up 64" springs SOA.

9" shackles id mount inside. That's how I did. 9" would hit the frame at bump unless you chop the frame off to clear.

Yeah with the 12” shackles above the frame I bump right before the springs are negative too much and it’s also right before the wrap hits the frame.

thanks. The silver ones are more what I’m after performance wise but I think like you said, I’ll try the 63 main with a 6 in shackle first. See how I like it then consider going to on top of the frame with a 12 in shackle.

I don’t think a 9 in shackle would get me over the frame. Probably like others mentioned in the middle but I’d have to mess with a tape measure for sure. More than likely if the 63 main doesn’t do what I want, I’ll go to a 12 ish inch shackle over the frame to correct the shackle angle since the deaver springs are an inch or 2 shorter than actual Chevy 63s. This way I get full use of it with a bigger shackle and then maybe hopefully can cycle a longer shock in the future

So for spring under axle i just gotta make sure the pinion/driveshaft angle lines up when i weld the spring perches on? Anything else to it, seems too simple ?
