That actually may be a great idea selling a plate with a new gasket that covers the opening. It would be way easier to make than an entire metal brake light

 

You can get a DC gasket online for $12, but it's single stick, you could use a little clear silicone on the nonstick side. For whatever reason the AC access cab gasket is double stick (and $7)

 

@MESO any update on the current round of printed parts?

 

Wow this is a lot to weed through. Anyone have an install guide / tips / pics or whatever for the BD5? Looks like it requires a relay and I can't find anyone that has mentioned installing it (although I'm sure it's somewhere. I'll keep searching but if anyone wants to help save me some time!

 

Personally I’d recommend a relay for any of the DB variations, and a better earth. Simply run a new power line from drivers kick panel through door sills then up to roof by the rear seatbelt area, there is also a decent earth point by the rear seatbelt. Then use the cargo switch to power the relay coil. Not many pics in this thread for the wiring, but it’s as simple as it gets.

 

Well we're both idiots then. I saw a couple other people have this issue as well. Anyone have tips for this? Thought about just trying to snake some dental floss or something through then tie em together and pull through but I'd rather be gentle if possible. TIA

 

I found the trick was to strip some of the black jacket off, so you have just the smaller red and black wires exposed. I had a 10” ziptie that I cut the piece that it’s supposed to pass back through off so it was a fairly smooth piece of plastic. I fished that through the hole for the BD5 from the outside and then taped the wires on and pulled them through. Before I stripped off the black jacket I felt like I was struggling with an impossible task.

 

You also can ‘clean up’ the wire guide/hole as you’re going to silicone it at final install (put a little on hole before pulling last part of wire in). It’s the same no matter which version you have, the 5 is just a bit more compact.

Anyone know what size bolts hold the bajas in the brake light housing? My rock lights came with some but they don't fit MESO's bolt insert. I'm sure home depot has plenty. Thanks!

 

They will fit. Use the correct size Allen bit on a drill. With some pressure, screw the silver Allen bolts with the drilll into the brake light holes. They will self tap and create threads in the plastic housing.

Cool. How long are the bolts? Looks like mine came with two different sizes. And you don’t happen to know the drill allen bit size do you? I’m sure I can figure it out but I might stop and grab one if I don’t have the size. No way I was about to muscle it in on my own and break my precious 3BL I’ve been waiting years for haha. Thanks!

 

Nice! Honestly I was wanting to grab black bolts anyway (or paint the ones Baja sent. Shoot me the size of you don’t mind and I still might swoop some black up at Home Depot. Gotta stay true to the blackout (even if I know it’s ridiculous) can’t stop now! Thanks again man!

 

So it looks like quite a few folks have gone ahead done the BD5 with no relay. Should I try it? Complaints?

 

Could you link the guy that made your lenses and the black bolt replacements. looks good on your truck!

 

This is how my KC5's turned out, I am wanting to at least get the some black bolt replacements for the lenses.

 

Painting them is an option.

Painting them is exactly what I did and it works and looks great. Highly recommend this method.

 

Is the only option for access cabs the BD4?
