Has anyone opened and switched this panel 90 degrees, so that the volume will be "Up & Down"?????

Easy fix. Only change volume when making a left turn. Volume up will be on top and volume down will be on bottom.

 

I agree the orientation is stupid and it confuses me but no IMHO worth taking everything apart and trying to make it the way you want it. One thing that has helped me remember how it works is on the front/center display, change it to it shows the music source. Then in front of you is a constant reminder that up/down changes the track backwards (up) or forwards (down), or if listening to the radio, up and down goes backwards or forwards thru your presets.

Then volume becomes natural from there but to be honest reaching over and turning the volume up/down with the dial is fine.

 

Well, I'm back. Sorry it took you exactly a day to understand this. I guess that's what 4 years of grade 6 will do to some people.

Sometimes logic does not match feelings. Glad you are back tho.

 

Until somebody presented the logic, about 20 minutes maybe.

 

Getting a 1st gen would solve this issue

 

But why?...

 

I’m imagining heated debate, teams forming, PowerPoint presentations on statics, vertical vs horizontal orientation..

Remove steering wheel rotate 90 degrees and reinstall or get over it .

 

Cut wires, switch positions, & solder back together again.
Report back if you were successful or just created smoke.

 

Am I the only one who uses my right hand to control volume on the head unit, and completely ignores the functionality on the steering wheel?

Not sure why this is causing such a stir, Just re-map the wheel keys from your head unit..

 

Out of curiosity, what head unit is that?
