Cool, D60 it is! Anyplace better than another to order from? Been pricing stuff out on ECGS but I'm in San Diego if someplace local is an option.

Wish I could DIY but I cannot.

I did the Dana 60 when I get added my cryo treated Nitro gears. It’s funny because I ran the stock gears for 10 years with the supercharger and never had an issue. If I were to do it over again, I would absolutely go with the Ford 9”. I’d get it bare (no mounts) and update your rear suspension at the same time. JD Fab has a good product over there.

Not sure how far you plan to take your truck, but one main consideration for me now days is trussing the rear end. The Dana 60 is harder to truss and maintain all the up travel that I desire. It’s convenient as ECGS has a bolt in option, but if you start down the road of improvements to the rear suspension, you’ll find yourself cutting off all the mounts and I’ll tell you right now, they build a stout rear end with 1/4” mounts. It’s a lot of work. If you’re staying stockish then You’ll be happy

Did you get the fans all figured out?

I currently have the camburg rear cage long travel suspension with bypasses and fox bump stops. Does that help or hurt me?

The Camaro fan won’t work with the Autocoolguy controller. I don’t want to use the Lingenfelter controller so I just abandoned that idea for now.

I installed one of those new Flex Wave fans from Flexalite today. It seems like it moves more air than the Volvo fan, but that’s just in the driveway testing. I’ll see if it’s any better over the next week or so.

I agree with what you’re saying. But tinkering is therapeutic for me. It keeps me sane and it’s cheaper and less troublesome than coke and hookers.

More info about that autocoolguy box. Does the AC trigger at your specific command % when you turn on the AC?

Means you’re going to have to do a lot of cutting, grinding and fitting to make the D60 from ecgs work. It’s meant for a “bolt in” stock application and you’ll need to redo all of the shock mounts, bump strike pads, spring perches and what not. Just like you would for just about any other upgraded axle.

man, that sucks pretty much the same thing that happened to me earlier this year. I was just getting on the road on 4.56 and 315's as well and bam it said no thanks. I am def looking for a new rear axle as well. Depending on your setup you can also get the rear wider to better line up with the LT and not have to run spacers if you are. I plan whenever I get to it to go 4" wider (+2 on each side) to go with the front. the ford 9" sounds like a solid deal but have been seeing a bunch of Tundra as @snowsk8air2 noted so we can keep all our Toyota factory spec goodies.

Yes. The controller has a small screw that allows you to override fan rpm so you can go to a set speed when running AC. The Ice box that we have is essentially a timing relay to hold that latch so the fans don’t ramp up and down with compressor lock up.

I was just wondering why no one is running the flex a lite fan? It's a kit just for the taco.

I tried to price a full float from camburg but that was like $8k starting, lul. Good to know that I will have to grind to fit the D60 as that means I gotta do extra homework on this. Really appreciate all the input.

Or just order your rear end bare. I’m sure they would be more than happy to ship sans mounts and for a few hundo cheaper

@DocME Sums it up below. The Autocoolguy controller allows you to set what fan speed you want when the A/C is on. It’s triggered by a (+) input. But the taco doesn’t have a constant (+) output when the A/C comes on. If you wire the controller to the compressor relay, then the fans don’t stay running when the compressor cycles off.

The IceBox is basically a pulse stretcher that takes the on-off-on-off (+) pulse from the compressor relay and turns it in to a constant (+) output that you then feed to the controller’s input so that the fans stay on between compressor cycles.

In my case, I don’t think the shroud will cover whole radiator since I have the one made for the FJ. I’m still playing around with fan ideas. I may eventually end up with one like @Torspd has.

Probably. I like the idea of using the stock shroud and using one fan. I might bribe @Torspd with many beers and we'll figure out the relays and wiring crap. My brain has arteries and veins terminology, placement, etc occupied where wiring should be. Lol

If I could get the Camaro fan working I think that would be pretty much the best setup. It looks like it will move a ton of air. I’m just not sold on the Lingenfelter controller. I was thinking maybe there could be a way of using a junkyard Camaro ECM and just use it to run the fan. Then you could use HP Tuners to adjust the PWM map vs temp.

While on the subject of cooling, how long do our stock radiators usually last?

I have 165K on mine, no problems or heat issues. I plan to upgrade to a larger radiator, and wondering if I should just do it now, or wait until I have a need/issue.

Also, what is the consensus on the replacement - CSF or aFE?
