Ha! My truck was probably feeling the same, after driving to this point from Georgia. Maybe I’ll start calling it Forrest lol.

Today for the first time I actually used the 4-low in my 2019 AC TRD OR for a fairly step, narrow, rocky climb up to a fire tower at Custer Peak in the Black Hills. For years I have driven a Jeep TJ that goes about anywhere. With not having an actual lever to pull for the 4-low, at first I was going a bit too fast to get the 4-low engaged, so I had to figure that out! I was the one and only truck out of a dozen plus UTVs.

Anyway, I’m impressed with the Tacoma! I didn’t at all try the crawl control as 4-low in first or second gear did just fine up and down (admittedly craw control is a bit modern for me). The ride was really nice, and being stock I had enough clearance and even the stock tires were okay (I did not air down). The view up top was pretty … although with smoke in the sky from Montana fires.

Yesterday ... getting some work done on land I own here. I LOVE having a trail gate as it's like a work bench (let alone a truck bed).

Montana Mountain loop. Near Superior, AZ. Actually used 4LO a couple of times. It’s rated easy but there are a few switchbacks with sketchy off camber turns.

Yeah it should be able to do the whole trail if it’s 4WD. The biggest risk is rain, there are a lot of spots that obviously get flooded.

I'm game but a noob - and I treat my new ride as a bit of a pavement princess.
Don't mind gettin dirty but I don't want pinstripes ... or a busted oil pan ... or busted axel LOL...
It's not paid for yet - HA

Would love to get out there and shoot some images - setup for some Milky Way shots...

I plan to head out west next summer for a couple weeks. All my mod money has been going to off road protection. RCI sliders and skids, AT tires, recovery gear and overland camping gear. I have family up near the Black Hills in Wyoming so its likely we'll head to Wyoming first and then drive up into Southern Idaho from Yellow Stone and over to Glacier Nation Park. I Will only have two weeks plus the weekend before so 16 days. It's a lot of driving to get there from KY but we'll haul ass and stay in motels inroute and going home to save time.

Sounds like a great trip - realize Cell Phone coverage will be spotty ( if at all ) in some of those places - and it will be quite chilly ( upper 30's ) at night. Yellowstone is no place for amatuers ... the wildlife there rules ... and mankind is like 3rd on the food chain there.... and the forest rangers do not intervene in that progression.

Yeah - we were amazed at how great that little chunk of New Mexico was. We were just passing through on our way to California. I'd like to take a trip back to that part of NM and stay for a while.
