What’s up guys, got a couple questions regarding this pack if anyone wants to chime in..
I recently posted in the So-Cal section of a camping trip I’m taking from San Diego to Yellowstone and was asking everyone just for tips and pointers on what to bring or fix in terms of a “just in case”.
My main thing now is that I will be pretty loaded up for our 10 day excursion, everything for camping, and will also have our bikes off the back end as well. I’ve noticed time and time again that these stock leafs are garbage once you have a full tank and anything over 200 lbs in the rear, making it bottom out over literally anything.
Been looking over at the OME mediums since I’m not always loaded, just a camper shell and the occasional bike rack at times but when it’s desert season I do tow a small flatbed as well. Anyone have some positives/negatives about this pack? Once again I think the regular weight I’ll be having is around 150-200lbs in the back.
Here’s some pics of what is a standard load for me. Mind you I do have 1.5” blocks and stock springs right now.2D70C332-4017-4FCD-B323-461F6CECAEB3.jpg ca F0169AA5-330D-40C3-BE1D-8233A970AFE1.jpg And another just because my girlfriend likes this pic hahaFE6061FE-8DF4-4BB3-8C35-05CB10256799.jpg

I'm currently waiting to order a new set of leaf springs since my OME are loud and squeaky. I've put new bushings and re-greased numerous times with only minor relief until yesterday when I noticed that the main part of the noise is coming from the half wrap (useless compared to a full military wrap) on the second leaf and I can squeak the whole thing by hand let alone the truck moving down the road. I'm not very happy with the quality of the OME construction, fit & finish, and longevity.
I'll most likely be ordering a set from All-Pro Off-Road and ditch the OME.

thanks for the feedback! Only reason I’m considering the OME is because there’s a good deal in my area.. $400 for the pair never mounted. I’ll have to do some more research on these. I don’t want to end up with a pack that’s too harsh for the little weight I’ll normally have on/in the bed

The OME leafs do make some noise when they dry out. but I haven't seen an aftermarket pack that doesn't squeak at some point. I would recommend going with the heavies instead of the medium. the ride hight will be the same and after the leaf pack breaks in and settles you wont sag as bad when you do haul stuff in the bed. overall the OME is a solid suspension and easy to install.

I did use silicon grease on all my bushings, maybe that has helped.

Is it noticeably stiffer in the rear? How much weight do you have on the regular basis?

The OME are not a bad choice for a "Truck" spring (Lightish leaf pack + Over load) but for ride quality the "Offroad" or progressive style packs will be less harsh towards the end of travel but at a cost of no overloads so more sagging in general. Just got off the phone with the shop that sold me the OME kit and I have to call in a week to talk with the ARB warranty guy but they did mention that my EL095R springs have been replaced with a newer model.

:rofl:I’ll keep that in mind. Yeah not too sure if I’ll be going the deaver route quite yet.. those are a pretty penny for sure compared to everything else. I’m not mobbing off-road a whole lot and I feel like getting deavers will be extra money for not getting the full use out of them

right after you install them you can tell a difference but you also have a camper top so that will probably help a little with the stiff ride. overtime they will soften up. I did a lot of research before i bought mine and almost everyone I talked to either went with the heavies and loved them or bought the mediums and had to upgraded to the heavies. You will have a rack for a few months but again it will settle about 1/2-1" back to level.

-most days I just have a softopper and thats it. when im off road I have 200-300lbs of gear, sometimes more.

Bitchin, yeah I’m not really worried too much on rake, I do have the MaxTrac 4” spindles up front now. And plus, the heavies will help a lot I’m sure when I’m towing.

I’ve been seeing everywhere that people have some pet peeves with the OME leafs, i might go with what I had originally planned and go with the icon RXT in option 3 setting. I like that you can adjust to a lower “setting” by moving that leaf around. By the looks of it people really dig them

I've got a Leer cap and it's probably 200Ibs or so and plan on getting a rtt down the road. Can always remove a leaf with the HD to convert to MD as well.

I'd get the OME heavy pack and if it is too firm remove a leaf.

I've been running the older OME pack with the 3rd leaf removed since 2014. It is no louder than the factory leaf pack.

I have a shell, rear HC bumper, 2 spares, sliders, and skids. When I'm loaded up for camping and have the RTT installed I find the bumpstops more often than I'd like off-road so I'm planning to reinstall the 3rd leaf in a few weeks.

I did a similar drive a few years ago in my truck, from the Bay Area to Yellowstone in September. The drive is a little longer I think from San Diego. I went for 13 days (non-camping, stayed in cheap motels). There were a cpl days in the park where it lightly snowed. If you have time make sure you include Grand Tetons in your trip, well worth the side trip. Have fun!
