Where did you purchase your suspension kit / Upgrades?

    Hello All,

Wondering where everyone has purchased, or in the middle of purchasing there suspension kits / upgrades from?

With COVID playing a major part with places not having stock, back orders, and delayed shipping issues, what avenues are people taking to get the suspension parts, upgrades, or kits?

Looking for general consensus considering everywhere I turn I'm running into either kits that don't match what I'm looking for, or they are on back order for 5+ months and not in stock.

What are you looking for? I got mine from Ironman last month and they were in stock.

I'll check out Ironman and see what they have - I haven't poked around there yet. Thank you for the suggestion.

Well I've been poking around for the following 3" lift setup:

    25001-119A-EXT adjustable front Kings
    25001-121A-EXT adjustable Rear kings
    ICON RXT Leaf packs
    SPC UCA's
    1" front differential drop

I'm going to do the buy once cry once as my wife would burry me alive if I let me wallet continue to bleed money if it wasn't done right the first time. She is however on board with the purchase, so I have the green light haha!

I really like the ironman setup...only put about 350 miles on it so far but really seems to be solid. I did not put spacers on the front diff but went with their foam cell pro kit with performance load springs all the way around and their forged UCA's. Installation was super easy.

Ive got the Ironman Foam cells as well and have enjoyed them. Ordered directly from them as well. Right now if you buy a kit at regular price, they come with full skids… which is nice. I only got treads lol.
I’ve used my kit on the beach and then off roading this past weekend and had no issues. It did everything I asked it too with no issues and was still comfortable ride.
I have SPC uppers though. When I got my kit the IM ones were not in stock and I wanted the adjustability of the SPC UCAs.
The ride is great with a 2.5” height and E rated 255/85/16 tires. At 3” I felt the ride was too harsh.

It's good to hear that Ironman, relatively new to me, not sure about the market itself however, is getting some good R&R. I hear the kings are also a little harsh at 3in as well but the adjusters should be able to compensate to make it even out also from what I've heard. Looks like they're back ordered until September, but the free skids is a lucrative addition to the offered package.

What was your reasons for choosing Ironman vs other competitors? If you could do it over would you change your suspension setup to something else?

Originally I was looking at Eibach and Bilstein. The Kings, Fox, Icon and some others were out of my price range and if I saved up, it would reduce spending in other areas. While researching here I saw the Ironman thread and they became a contender as well. I had wanted a full set up, including new leaf packs. Looking at the Ironman kit, it came with everything (minus the UCA) when I bought them for about 1500. Adding in that I can rebuild them myself at home and not need to worry about nitrogen was a bonus. Those factors were probably the biggest reasons. If I could go back, I would still choose IM BUT I would have chosen the Constant load rear leafs and take out the extras. That way of/when I add weight, I would already have the leafs and they were the same price.

Just for reference, the bottom pic is at 3” the top is about 2.5”.

I have to admit that's pretty strong feedback for ironman! Truck looks great btw! I'll do more research regarding Ironman to see what they are all about. Only thing that has me down is the back order times, but thats just about everywhere currently.

Thanks! There are a few people that have had the coils powder coated a different color before they installed them. You’d need to order not assembled (if they still offer that choice) or have them taken apart after you get them.
I can’t compare it to any of the other kits as far as ride goes but they are definitely better than stock. Here was my review thread on initial instal. Maybe I’ll update it. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ironman-foam-cell-pro-review.687891/

If you search Trail Tacoma Ironman review you can see a more in-depth one. For some reason, TW blocks trail Tacoma links…

I think the green looks really good on a black truck. My buddy has a set on his white 4runner and it looks really good too.

I agree with this! They just add something nice on the black truck.

I'll check it out, this happens to be one of the VERY few options for a 3in lift at a very reasonable price. Been watching a few videos about there line up. I'm trying to stay away from stacking lifts or using blocks as this is a daily 50% of the time while the other half is off road. We'll also be doing a major relocation to WA involving several road trips some time next year, so road comfort is just as important as off road. In a perfect world it'd be obtainable but unfortunately there is a balance that needs to be met as both can only be achieved so much together.

Valuable input regarding the Ironman kit, thank you very much!

Anytime. If you’re looking at the higher end lifts, @AccuTune Offroad can help you more, once they know what you need and plan to do.

You ran with the Ironman kit previously? What are you running now, and what was your deciding factor to change over?

I've kept an eye on @AccuTune Offroad for a while now. I've heard nothing but amazing things with this vendor. My only concern is the delayed time frames being that if I order now, and it's 9 months away from shipping with another possible 3-4 weeks delivery I might be in the middle of the move by then, resulting in the entire order being delivered to an address I no longer reside at. Not so good for me, possibly really good luck for who ever may be here by that time!

That makes sense. I always see them posting and answering questions. Maybe they’ll have a better timeframe for you.

Yes that'd be nice, I may just have to call them when I get a moment. I work 12-14hr night shifts so it makes it a little difficult to communicate between 5pm and 5am for most places .

Ideally regarding the initial kings inquiry above I could live with out the extended rear shocks as the non extended still provide up to 3in. Ironman is still a valid option considering the price point although a few things here and there might be added for adjustments/comfort as mentioned in a few reviews I've read/watched.

I just ran 2" front Bilsteins, and 1" rear block from Ready Lift. The ride has not worsened one iota. Love it

No need for front coils, no diff drop, no premature wear on the rest of the suspension, and it looks lifted. No regrets.

I have 37" all around from the bottom of the wheel arches/fenders, and no more Taco lean.

But then again, 3" would look much higher than a 2" lift
