Just got back from Big Sur testing my new air springs and the “rain fly brackets” from Gzila. Both worked great. I like that I can keep the rear flap open and not have the sun beating down inside. Also was great in the heat. Cooled down at night and the open screen windows were perfect.

It occurred to me that, since this “rain fly” is little more than an aluminum bracket with a hole bored into it at the right angle, along with some high tensile bent rods, maybe SP could simply bore a similar hole into say the latch housing and do away with the brackets on the t-track.56CB28D2-1322-4D0A-9BDB-2C415069A925.jpg

When and how exactly does the numbering process happen? I'd really love to be #69 when I pick up next week. Barring that #86 would be acceptable. Any ideas anyone? I'm mostly joking about my preferred numbers, I doubt either will happen.

Might not be a 5 Axis part. So doing that angled bore would be another Operation if it's in fact in a 3 Axis machine. But otherwise.. I agree completely.. they should add that if they're able to.

They said its by build completion date iirc, that was definitely something I asked. So there will be a big burst of numbers soon when the extrusions get in.

I think that has happened already. At least I'm pretty sure what they were waiting on with mine and they have finished mine, or so they say. I will know next Tuesday! Can't wait to get back and see the shop full of campers and people. I dropped in and met Spencer and the 2-3 employees he had last Fall. Peter wasn't around that day.

Made a diy version of the VRNCLR Top Shelf. They say they attach it to the roof with 3M Dual Lock and VRB tape. Can anyone tell me a good source for VRB tape? Or any better ideas? I've read that a lot of the VRB tape being sold on Amazon isn't authentic.

Thanks. Yes, Firestone Rite-Rite airbags. There great, although I can tell the difference. It's subtle but I can tell I'm riding on inflated footballs rather than pure metal. But I went up and down the Los Burros Road in Big Sur and it's a nasty little road. Also went out the Coast Ridge Road, which is a little better but has its bad spots. Suspension worked out well.

I got this one off Amazon and used it to put up my interior lighting. Had a week of 100+ degree days the week before last and it’s stuck as hell.

I received the CVT ladder today. The t-nuts that come with the brackets work with the SP, fyi.

I bet that exterior ladder makes life significantly easier. Nothing like shuffling all of your gear every time you want to enter/ exit your camper, especially in the rain.

It's not that bad without one if you're not too tall. We generally just leave the smaller floor pieces out so you can climb up through the bed of the truck, although we're getting a ladder since my feet get "pinched" down in the wedge if the bed is all the way forward.

I agree about shifting gear around, and I have to sleep at an angle to make room for my feet, but wouldn’t climbing up and down a ladder in the rain be a pia as well? I’d be interested in hearing opinions about ladder vs no ladder.

The reason I got one is because my 10 year old sleeps downstairs a lot of the time. I'm thinking it will be nice to be able to get in and out without bothering him, but I haven't used it yet, so we'll see. I think the ladder would be more trouble than it's worth unless you have a lot of gear or a kid on the lower level.

Kinda defeats the purpose too imo.. unless for specific scenarios like you guys said (Kids, etc). I am curious how the wife and I will like climbing in and out through the bed. I think the fully enclosed aspect will still outweigh everything else.

When it's nice out, I think the ladder will be nice, because as I mentioned, if you're relatively tall (probably 5'10"+), your feet will be crammed into the bottom of the wedge if you have the two smaller panels removed to be able to get in and out of the camper from the bed. That's the situation we've been running into. When it's just me, it's not so bad because I can sleep diagonal, but when there's two people up there you can't really sleep on your back with your toes pointed up. Not a huge deal, but it's been getting more and more irritating to me, so we'll give the ladder solution a try.

What about just extending the sleeping platform another 6" or so.. I think someone else did that here posted a while back.
