Getting ready to put in a new clutch and I found this option on rockauto. I was wondering if anyone else had gone this route? The part number pulled up this brand on eBay but it’s the same picture as the AMS Automotive brand on rockauto. 48B16745-95C7-4961-BF92-0EB7F825EBD5.jpg

For the price, I'd go with the LCE Street Clutch Kit instead. I have their Dual Comp for my 2TR and it's been great. Much better quality than the Aisin OEM clutches.

Ironically, my clutch was lighter after installing the new clutch...which is odd since it's a stronger pressure plate to hold higher HP.

LCE makes good stuff, but it says this in their description.
OP has Pre-Runner, not sure what the difference is?

“NOTE: Not For The Tacoma X Runner. Not For Tacoma Pre-Runner 2 Wheel Drive. Not for 2011 and newer Tacoma's or FJ Cruisers. Fitment is for trucks produced in North America Only. Not compatible with TDI conversions.”

Good catch. Then he'd have to go with their Pro Clutch Kit instead, which is about $100 more than his original RockAuto clutch showed.
If it were me, I'd go LCE even if I was keeping it stock. I love the way my clutch grabs and now that it's worn in, I can slip it finally. But it's got a much more positive feel.

I agree, I’d go with a proven name brand.
I don’t like pulling any transmission, let alone doing it twice.

For the price I might just go with the Aisin kit on rockauto for right at $300. I noticed that pro kit you mentioned seemed to use an Exedy clutch and that’s also an option on rockauto. It’s possible the clutch was changed before I got the truck at 99,500m but if it’s the original it’s lasted the last 6 years with me and up to 284,000m now so I’m content with the factory brand. I can put the rest to resurfacing or replacing the flywheel, a new set of flywheel bolts, and a rear main seal. Thanks for all the info
