    Afternoon all! :hattip:

Had the first failure on my Cub Cadet 46" mower today. Belt for the deck decided to twist and shredded today.

    20210719_135751.jpg

Some of it is my fault, and some is a design flaw. Several months back I ran over my pad for the mower that is conveyor belt. Locked the deck up so hard it shut off the motor. That didn't help the belt any. Today I started to mow and started smelling burning rubber and eventually started to see smoke. I was able to get one at Tractor Supply, but had to pay a premium to get it ($60, OEM Cub belt). I guess that's alright since I didn't have to go over the mountain to get it. It measures 1/2 x 118.2 and luck would have it Stens makes an upgraded one that is 1/2 x 118. That'll work. I'll order one and put that on there instead and keep the other one as a spare. Tractor Supply keeps some of the nice blue upgraded belts, but nothing that long. Gits and shiggles I looked up the size of the drive and they keep that size in stock in the upgraded one. Might grab one just to have.

    Yes, it is.

It's got 10 gallons of gas that smells like kerosene, yet it still started on one cylinder after I tossed a starter on it.

Reseated the rocker bolts and it now purrs.

I expected it to smoke like crazy.

There is a hella clatter coming from the pto, but it goes away completely when you engage the clutch.

I just cut my half acre with no trouble.

    I think this will make someone a nice mower.PXL_20210719_232659349.jpg PXL_20210719_232712543.jpg PXL_20210719_232727858.jpg PXL_20210719_232759073.jpg

I did some hay mowing today with the Kubota M9540 and a John Deere 630 MoCo. I was mowing a field that was disked and reseeded in the spring. Disking the field brought some new rocks to the surface. Today was the first time it had been mowed. The mower clipped a rock and busted it up and launched a chunk of it into one of the rear windows on the Kubota. I got pelted by glass but no cuts or injuries. These mowers have a drape covering the cutter bar to prevent this from happening, but I guess this one got under the shield. The knife tip speed at 540 PTO rpm is 191 MPH. I had the rear window open when I hit the rock. Luckily the side window caught it. Flying debris at almost 200 mph could easily kill or seriously injure you. I’m extra grateful to be alive and well tonight. We have glass coverage added to the insurance, it should take care of the window with no deductible. 26997478-EC9B-4F2F-A1DB-E170548367BB.jpg512BF6A6-C889-4E57-BB27-A6B54A16DDCD.jpg

The episode where they converted one into a snow plow and went road plowing was EPIC!

They had fun when they slid it off the road into deep snow.
