So i had a 2018 Tacoma TRD OR and have done quite a few sets of wheels on other tacomas and T4R's that all had the TPMS that could be transferred from the OEM wheels to the new Aftermarket wheels.

Well, i found out that my new 2021 Tacoma TRD OR has a new style TPMS that screws into the valve stem and requires new valve stems for the new wheels. Toyota wanted $50 for 4 new valve stems which seems a bit absurd. Does anyone know where i can get some cheaper?

Had the same issue. Need new snap in valve stems for new rims with this style TPMS. I went to American Tire Depot and bought them at $5 each. Local toyota dealer told me they don’t even sell them separately and I’d have to buy new TPMS sensors. Gtfo.

i bit the bullet and bought the new stems from toyota for $50. Not sure if they changed the sensors for this model year or if these were just put into production due to shortages of parts.

    Nothing yet
Put all the sensors inside of a wheel barrow tire, and throw it in the bed. Keep it filled, problem solved. I HATE the tpms crap.

Isn't it hard to get those TPMS sensors inside the tube of that wheel barrow tire?

So can you use old style TPMS with the ‘21 Tacoma or are you limited to the new style?

I’m sure you can use the old style if you buy new ones. But the new tpms are different and are not the style where the whole sensor/stem can be removed by loosening the nut. If you want to reuse the 21 sensors you have to buy new valve stems to screw the sensors into.
