I really like the new Bronco, think they did a great job with it although they have been delayed for so long and are literally just now starting to trickle into some dealerships.

Except this does everything right that the Ridgeline got wrong.

Chiefly, it's priced and built to convert car buyers, not other pickup buyers. The Ridgeline tries to sell something different to people who don't like change.

I'm honestly considering getting one. Owning a Tacoma was as much about my line of work as it was a lifestyle vehicle. But now that my field of work has changed, I'd much rather have something more economical that still lets me get out.

I'll still get another Toyota 4x4 someday, but likely an older one I won't be afraid of bashing up.

Though I'd love it if Toyota revisited the A-Bat concept (although not it's styling).

    https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022-hyundai-santa-cruz-pricing-trims/

See, now Hyundai missed the mark in my opinion. If more than half of the posts on here were in regards to the Santa Cruz instead of the Maverick, I'd be much more inclined to agree with many of the opinions shared here.

The Santa Cruz starts $25,175. That's closing in on Tacoma territory with just the base model. Now most people might want a base model Santa Cruz over a base model (Utility Package) Tacoma. But that means the rest of the lineup from Hyundai can easily get cross-shopped with most midsize trucks. Naturally, I'm not talking about people who want to go hardcore off-roading in this situation, but rather the far more abundant and common average car buyer who buys a Tacoma and ground-pounds it for a few years before moving on to whatever else strikes their fancy.

And there's still no mention of the Hyundai's fuel economy to boot. But the fact that I can get a nicely equipped Maverick, with (potentially much) better fuel economy for barely more than an entry-level Santa Cruz is a big mark on Hyundai's part.

I ordered one from my local Ford dealership. I had to assess how I was utilizing the Tacoma over the past 2.75 years. Being true to myself and use-case, the Ford seemed to hit many marks for me than dealing with and retaining the Toyota.

It will be replacing my 2019 Tacoma TRD OR 4x4, DCSB, 6AT. I unfortunately have had less than satisfactory experience with my Tacoma. It has had 7 unscheduled maintenance visits and 6 out of the 7 issues remain unresolved by two local dealerships and Toyota Corporate in 22,000 miles. It is a lease and is due 10/2021. I refuse to drive it right now and I utilize my summer vehicles due to the reoccurring/ unresolved issues. It should go through the lemon law process, but it will be Toyota's problem at lease end in a couple months. I feel bad for the next owner. It's too bad, but that's the way it is on my example. The Ford could be the same, but tried and true didn't work out for me this time, may as well try something new. Maybe the 4th generation Tacoma will be catch my eye, but I am far from being brand loyal so it opens my options a bit more.

Right on! Not many people assess what their actual needs are and drive accordingly, hence the large number of 4x4's with huge 33's that never see off road.
This is my first Toyota truck, but it may be my last. I have owned 5 Toyota cars and they have all been excellent, and maybe not coincidentally, made in Japan. My Tacoma has been OK, but there have been a few problems, not limited to the rusting frame, problematic heater, starting issues related to a fuel pump (I think), and the springs being replaced on my 09. I'm not going to bash the truck, but my experience with my base model 2004 Ranger was far more trouble free. I am not brand loyal either (except for motorcycles; I love Yamaha reliability in their dual sports).
The fuel pump issue really had me concerned, as I cannot venture too far off road alone with my family if my vehicle is not extremely reliable. I must be able to trust my vehicle.
With what Toyota is asking for their current trucks, I think there is an opening in the market for competition.
I do wish Chevrolet had opted to put an upsize Chevy Volt drivetrain in their Colorado/Canyon, as it would have made for an incredibly efficient and capable vehicle.
I look forward to your review!

After dealing with one Ford product and their incompetent service department NEVER buy a Ford. Gentilini Ford is pathetic.

I owe a lot to my 1970 Maverick Grabber. My dad towed it home and said you get it running and it’s yours. At 16 I took auto shop. I rebuilt the heads and fixed lots of stuff. That’s where I learned so much about cars and engines. I have to say the little 200ci straight 6 never let me down. I changed plugs, points, carb, fuel pumps, brakes, shocks, timing, and a ton of other things. I was sad when my sister put an 18” V in the front by hitting a tree.

The Pinto had street cred because YOU COULD DIE IN EXPLOSIVE HELLFIRE!!!!

The Fairmont was a boat but it was also a tank, and you'd only barely get hurt from going off a 300' cliff. A HS girlfriend's sister had one, and got T-boned by an Isuzu coupe. It killed the Isuzu, but she was fine.

I'll do you one better... when I was 17 I had a '76 Plymouth Duster. With a bulletproof slant-6, at least. I blew the rear out of it trying to do burnouts.
