just about black everything. i don't dig the chrome.
pardon my little bird brain that can't fathom anything except what's force fed to me by FOX news and modern day church. the one thing i like about this forum is the personal attacks are usually kept to a minimum. i can understand the frustration that comes with debating certain topics but there is truly no room for this kind of talk. i take pride in my belief and what i perceive to be truth and i respect you and yours.

you said the argument has been dead for years, so why are we still talking about it here? truth is that these have always been and will always be hot topics.

i apologize for the sarcastic tone in the beginning.

The hope is to point people to the information that is out there so they may educate themselves. I operate on the premise that false beliefs may actually endanger people. My remarks were not aimed at any particular person, but at the manner of thinking that shuts down the brain and refuses to let new information, or own's own imagination, explore ideas because it is crippled by superstition.

I am sorry to go here, but you sir, are ignorant.

evolution: a theory that the various types of animals and plants have their origin in other preexisting types and that the distinguishable differences are due to modifications in successive generations; also : the process described by this theory - http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/evolution

Human skulls over the past 4 million years: http://lxixixl.com/keyword/hominids skull/0/0/

Whales still have small leg bones from when the used to use them for propulsion:
    http://uanews.ua.edu/2008/09/all-in...ind-early-whales-used-back-legs-for-swimming/

    Various examples:
    http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2008/12/evolutionexampl/

And a side note, if you took a biology class and they could not show you proof of evolution they are retarded as well and i really hope this wasnt in college and you had to pay for that education, cuz it was obviously a huge waste of money.

I was thinkin' you had evolved into DanT. I think your out though and this is his thread now!!!:p
I'm with ya brother. I just don't have the time to try and get all that I'd like to say, down on paper. I need to just repost all my previous posts, like Dan was doing form his other forums he said he visits. It would be so much easier.

    Peace.

Thank you for this post, you are the poster child for the uninformed and close minded. This is the exact argument people used when Darwin first published his book, and just shows your complete lack of understanding and knowledge.

Other than that, it is a good argument.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I never "bashed" anybody's faith, there's no reason you can't believe in God and evolution at the same time. Hell, the catholic church actually agrees with evolution and it's allowed to be taught in catholic schools. My wife has a masters degree in theology and teaches in the religion dept at her school and agrees with the evolution theory. I just get annoyed with the people who refuse to allow facts to get in the way of their belief.

I wasn't referring to you if that's what you think. I completely agree with what you are saying as I went to a Catholic school, and I also took biology while in attendance.

The debate of evolution can be summed up thusly:

Religion has existed in some way, shape or form since the Middle and Lower Paleolithic periods (about 300,000 years ago, give or take 100,000 years...). Once man became less of a nomadic animal and began cultures of farming during the Neolithic period (9500 B.C.) you see an explosion in organized religions, the largest of which was centered around Anatolia (in Turkey) which featured 18 levels and the main deity was the Great Goddess.

As humans developed more and more elaborate civilizations, religion became equally as elaborate and complex. From 800 to 200 B.C., the foundations for most modern religions were laid, with the emergence of monotheism in Persia, Platonism in Greece (and subsequently Romanism), Buddhism and Hinduism in India, Confucianism and Taoism in China, and so on.

Finally, we reach the modern era, where the modern religions of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, and Hinduism have emerged as the strongest of the sects, due to a resiliency to changing socio, political and economic factors. Religion itself has evolved, along with the evolution of the human species.

Much like how monkeys in Indonesia have exhibited greater and greater lung capacity over the last 1000 years to be able to collect more food from the shallow ravines and rivers they feed in, religion continues to evolve into forms which allow it succeed and thrive in the human sociology.

This is why the penguins you see today evolved into excellent swimmers who cannot fly. They used to have fully functional wings capable of generating lift. But as their environment changed around them, they adapted to take advantage their habitat.

Wow, very well said. I shall ponder this for a while. Reminds of the quote "If God did not exist, surely man would invent him." I like the concept of religion evolving. I wish some of the fundamentalist I know could accept that concept instead of the absolutes that some of them believe in.

I don't really think it has. Personally, I'm used to be told I'm wrong. As far as that goes, I had a guy tell me one time I was lying when I said I'm not afraid to die.:D

That's utterly ridiculous...evidence of evolution is very easily found via many different sorces. They don't teach creationism, because there is absolutely no scientific basis for it besides people who say WE BELIEVE!!! HAVE FAITH!!!

Google is not a "source" it is a search engine which directs you to the source. And the natural history museum (or any museum for that matter) can show you series of complete skeletons of specific animals which clearly shows how the animals changed over millions of years. Including humans...who did evolve from the great apes in on way or another.

Which they only teach at religious institutions...evolution is taught everywhere. I was simply replying to a previous poster who stated that creationism isn't being taught.

My niece goes to a christian private school and they will not teach any evolution. Her teacher told her he believes evolution but isn't allowed to teach it. I shudder to think what will happen when she gets to college. I can't stand her mother.

I agree . . . but I'd like to point out that when one adheres to the version of Christianity that holds the Bible is without error and should be interpreted literally, then it IS inconsistent for them to believe in evolution. Not just because of the time periods involved and the incorrect order of 'creation' as portrayed in Genesis, but because the Genesis account suggests man's creation was wholly separate and distinct from that of all other animals.
