Im interested in a set as well, however I can't tell how to add for a long bed on your site? I assume it is an additional cost?

That's a horrible idea. What time?
So this is not something I like to do, but buyer beware. I do understand the difficulties of some small businesses right now. And the shortages of supplies. This is not my complaint. When I ordered, the lead time was 6-8 weeks. At 8 weeks, I inquired about the status of the order, not terribly worried about. No response to emails. I contacted the OP here, and was told thye have office personnel and he could no longer provide updates. 9 weeks out (Friday) I spoke to Derrick, who assured me that my order would ship on Monday or Tuesday. That was last week. I called and talked to the office personnel today, just to find out that there welding the top plates on my order today. I really didn't mind that the order was running a few weeks behind. I waited 16 weeks for my bumper. What I don't appreciate or understand is why the lack of information or mis-infomration. If you don't know, tell me. When you do know, tell me.

I can't speak to the product, because it's appraently being built today. When it arrives, I will.

I can speak to customer service. Be prepared to be kept in the dark.

Yeah I think anyone ordering these things going forward should be aware lead times are not 6-8 weeks like their website or the initial posts says. They are closer to 10-12 weeks lead time.

I ordered on 2/10, didn't receive shipping notice until 4/30 (11 weeks) after multiple calls and emails I think I was one of the first handful of people to order them. I had some run around when I called their shop too, OP helped a bit trying to track them down. Matt @2013XSPX it might be wise to update the first post with big bold letters at the top of the thread that lead times are closer to 12 weeks out since that seems to be the average most people are updating complaints about. That might help people sit better and not call for status updates until after 12 weeks relieving some of the tension.

Hey all! I'm so sorry for the mix up. Here's the bottom line on what happened:
    1. The owner is out with the team in MOAB
    2. A shop assistant tried to help locate an order status and gave the wrong customer's status
    3. Reading this post I contacted the owner who contacted the customer
    4. The customer is not ready to talk to yet so we left him an open line

Steel shortages have been the biggest hold up for us. I will update the post to reflect 10-12 weeks on sliders and bumpers. There's no excuse from our end, just facts. I know the owner, Derrick, has made any customer who has been inconvenienced right by giving big discounts or free gear. You all are really important to us and I'm working hard to bridge the gap. I'm sorry for anyone who's had any trouble with their order. We've sold about 460 sets of sliders and have put out almost half of them. We're currently designing 2nd and 3rd Gen bumpers and a few other exciting things. Thank you all for your support!

    Matt

Matt, my complaint has nothing to do with the time frame. It has everything to do with customer service and communication. If Derrick was out of the shop, then he should say so. "Let me check and get back to you" would have worked wonders. I understand the growing process and the complications of expanding a business with out adequate supplies. A common theme through this thread has been the communication problem. Address that and most of the rest of this goes away.

You're absolutely right. Communication failed here on Explore Overland's end. I'm working with Derrick to improve this and we've already made some progress today.

The shop employee has a firm understanding about his role and the impact of passing out incorrect information. Again zero excuses from our end. I know Derrick is taking care of you for the inconvenience so I hope that helps.

I think it might be better to extend that lead time to 16-20wks instead of 10-12. I ordered mine at the end of Feb, called and was told that it was going to be shipped out last week Tuesday/Wednesday but have yet to receive a shipping confirmation. Better to expect it later and be pleasantly surprised if it arrives early, than where I'm currently at, just kind of twiddling my thumbs and refreshing my email.

In case anyone who wanders by has some guidance, see the pictures. Where the red circle is I believe there should be a hole to run a bolt from the control model on the frame through. Thanks again Tiny's Taco for reaching out!

    UPDATE

Overall I am satisfied, though it was a bit of a saga to get here. I finally had the time to get mine installed this weekend. Took me about 10 hours total, most of it spent on the driver side as I had to mount and dismount a couple of times and I was doing it myself.

For reference I have a 2021 DCLB TRD OR.

The driver side was a bitch to get on. When I first went to mount them I found that there was a hole missing for the control module on the driver side that pokes a couple of bolts through. When I called I got the impression that they had not tested fitment on the 2021 DCLB. I was told that they "can't buy every year Tacoma to test them on". Which I get, but I would think someone would have confirmed fitment before advertising it. I had to put on\take off the driver side a couple of times to drill and then expand the hole for the control module bolt to pass through. The custom nut that gets inserted into the cross member on the driver side didn't quite line up with the angled piece that connects to the cross member so I had to cut the custom nut plate down a bit. I put some mounting tape between the brake lines and a couple of the bolts on the passenger side and wrapped the brake lines with electrical tape to prevent the brake lines from rubbing. The retainer for the 2 brake lines + the fuel line toward the driver side rear will not latch in, still thinking that over. Not a major problem in my eyes.

The passenger side was much easier. I had to cut the plastic cover on the passenger side of the frame as one of the support brackets was in the way.

Overall I am truly satisfied with the way they came out, but would have been better if I didn't have to modify them, otherwise a quality product at any price. They seem nice enough over there and I get the growing pains part... I provided them pictures and feed back in August when I first found out about the missing hole in the hopes they correct the design for the newer DCLB.
