Show us your truck bed sleeping platform/drawer/storage systems

You might be able to make one. Once I got it and installed it I realized how simple it really is.

 

What charger/controller did you run on your solar system? And do you have a dual battery system?

 

I use a Jackery 1000 to power everything in the back with an auxiliary fuse block. Just lights and fridge, charge electronics etc.

 

Not much, but it works for drill weekends and exploring the back country.

 

I like the little bungee cord you've got going across the back there. Nice and simple retention solution. Do you have access to the area in front of those bins, or is it just dead space?

 

Thanks! Form follows function, or somesuch. The cab side is not dead space. There's a thin plywood divider added to the middle 2x4 crossbar that prevents the boxes from sliding back too far, and provides storage for things I don't need as often (read, anything not to do with fishing or brushing my teeth). The back platforms each have a finger sized hole cut in them and lift right out of place to expose the storage underneath.

Probably the thing I'm most proud of is that the whole things comes apart in about five minutes if needed. I also sometimes take the top platforms off and use the frame as a support to load full sheets of plywood in and clear the wheel wells (which is why the gateside supports running the length of the bed are cut at an angle)

Next project of going to be removing all the windows and resealing them with one of those RV gasket kits. It's not that terribly leaky for a nearly 25 year old topper, but some water does get in when it rains a lot.

Threw this together with some scrap wood. Glued some carpet squares to the top. My goal was to have a pull out drawer for the generator at deer camp.

 

Simple and usable. Step ladder and hammock mounts bouncing around on top.

3 57.5" x 20" custom cushions 2" thick

3 dunnage racks 20 x 36 x 8"

2 60" 1x4 common board cut with runners to hold it in place


Just need to trim the ends for my bed stiffeners

is there any need to provide for drainage in the event water does get into the bed; or are we letting the front holes and nature work this out?

I've used this on two truck, great product. I didn't do anything for drainage.

 

Just got these the other day and had some time to install over the past two days. Drawers are VERY well made and fit in the bed amazingly. The drawers hold so much stuff and it has a built in table!!

Yes, they were ordered from Drifta (in Australia) through the North American distributer Kakadu Camping in British Columbia. They are very well built and work amazing so far. IMO they are superior to the Decked system as they have larger drawers and fit the bed much better.

Eta- they also have a built in table above the shallow drawer.

 

Usually I'm backpacking or riding in to backcountry camp but the Exped on top of the decked works great in a pinch. Most valuable item in there is the milk crate.

How tall is the decked system? From the floor to the top of the platform?

 

From floor to deck is 11.5”. Drawers are roughly 8.5” deep if I remember correctly.
