You are absolutely right. I like how your cover stands up -- so you don't lose that reach over / easy access to the bed.

Worth noting for folks looking at tonneau / bed covers. Look carefully for a tonneau that makes it easy to access that part of the bed closest to the cab. I wish I had done that. Not complaining ... and it is a minor convenience ... but falls into the category of "If I knew then what I know now I would have got a different solution."

Might be helpful for folks researching in the future.

Which specific backup lights did you go with? Got a link? Thank you.

Love your setup man, will definitely get the STT pro’s. Those look in the ballpark of 285s right?

Curious about why you waited, was it because you had a cover already?
I don’t have a cover yet and I was thinking of grabbing a mat as well; I’m in this weird place I have neither and does one need both?

Mounted some "good enough for now" grab-handles to the roof rack and and with the money I saved on handles...a Mountain Hatch.

Thanks, I appreciate it. That’s great advice and I really just got lucky that my friend had one and was able to show me how much of a difference it makes before I bought one. Hopefully I can pass that along to help people with their research.

Traded in the white SR 2x4 for the silver TRD OR 4x4. Couldn’t be more stoked. Let the mods begin.

I bought my cover right after I bought my truck since my boys decided we were going to take it on a road trip we had planned two weeks later. I’m glad that we did because it made a big trip even more of an event to them. Between my UnderCover Flex and running the drain lines through the factory drain holes with the barbed fittings the bed was going to stay pretty dry and be secure.

I’m glad I got the mat before the trip too since it sits on the top of the grooves in the bed it keeps my gear nice and dry above the little bit of water that may end up in the grooves in the bed before it drains out. Between that and keeping things from sliding around I am very happy that I have both. That and I think the mat looks cool in the bed so that has to count for something too.

I will say that I needed the cover and wanted the mat and I am glad that I have both of them.
