I think Pete will be able to fix it, once he gets back from his honeymoon; Luckily, there aren’t any car shows this weekend and I’m staying local!

    workin' on it.
I came here searching for a NEW backup camera as I installed 2x (front and rear) NAKITA cameras https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078ZZSKQ2/ It IS a different Nakita model, their warranty on it is ONE year. BOTH cameras no longer work consistently 90% of time time, meaning 10% of the time they actually work 1.5 years after install. Those NAKITAS have good reviews and look study, but simply 2 out of 2 failed with the same symptom, black/blank and or blinking screen. Worked fine until the warranty ran out. I just can't trust a NAKITA camera after this experience and if I were you, I might plan to purchase something different after it fails.

That said, still looking for something good to install. Ideas on anything that has a 2+ year warranty or has been installed at least 2 years? I dont want to reinstall these cameras every year.

Cruise control is dangerous, and I never use it. When I put the cruise "on" I usually don't have my feet near the pedals and that would severely reduce the reaction time in case a sudden movement is needed such as clutch or brake engagement. Perhaps I'm viewing it wrong on how you're supposed to utilize it, but I can't say I've turned that button on all but maybe once or twice on a cross country trip. If I could have bought my truck without it and saved a few bucks, I would have.

It was only used on open road in the middle of the night traveling to and from new Mexico. Other than that... the feature was useless.
When the spiral cable broke, the horn, cruise control and a couple of other things no longer worked.. the only reason I took it in to the dealer to get fixed, there was a recall on it, as it could cause a fire.
Thate a dealership visit I will never forget and why I dispose the service departments in all of them.

I steer clear of the dealerships for anything other than warranty work or having to stop into the parts department. I've never had good luck with ANY dealer (Toyota or other car brand), so I feel your pain. They enjoy bending people over and taking advantage when they are most vulnerable. I got quoted $1500 to replace my rear wheel bearings which I am doing for less than $500, and $1700 to replace my condenser which I did for under $200. I don't know who these clowns get to play their games but I feel sorry.

After replacing the spiral cable, I got the truck back. I drove out of the driveway got to the first light... the truck stalled. I restarted it and went to the next red light... the truck stalled again. Ok, we are going back. I made a uturn, got to the next intersection and it stalled. Wtf!:annoyed:. I finally limp it back and explain the issue. Came in for warranty work, the truck ran fine and now I can't go more than a block at a time. Fix it:cool::cool:
As I am waiting...I over hear a service writer explain the cost of replacing 4 struts on a Prius and a sensor of some kind (400 bucks).

Total job to replace struts and sensor... $2500.00.
    I gave them this looko_O
The customer then asked me what I would do... I told him to get his keys and run, run as fast as you can. The head service guy got wind of this and my truck and myself were thrown out of the dealership, asked to never come back.
:hattip: happily, but my truck will be fixed from your fuck up... when I brought it in, it ran fine, now it stalls. It was fixed in 5 minutes after, yet I had been there almost an hour.

Well, even if I end up not using it as much, I’d still like everything in my truck to work!

Nobody was saying different. Most of us want everything to work properly. How we use it... that's a different story all together.
Get the spiral cable corrected, I think you said you just had it done. It could be wound just a little bit tight since its intermittent.

Wow, yeah that's definitely a terrible experience I can only imagine. What was the fix? Crooks is all they are I swear. I'm pretty sure what they did was illegal but probably not worth your time to pursue.

I hear you, replace the stalk and you'll probably be good, otherwise maybe the guy that replace the clockspring put in a china part or it just happened to fail. Other than that, it's controlled in the ECM so there's not much to fail. Check the connections the fellow added as well to make sure nothing came loose.

Also, I don’t think the cruise control was actually working; I think I might have though it was working since I was going down hill slightly…

Is the spiral cable the clockspring? My mechanic replaced that after H&R Radio fucked it up, so having him check that means I won’t void the warranty on the cruise control!

They disconnected the battery to install the spiral cable. They had to hook it up to tech stream to reset the idle.
