Hey there taco bros and girls, I’m at an impasse.

I’m trying to install a single ARB compressor and I can’t get it to turn on. I’m trying to install under the hood and install the switch on the slee mount.

I’ve connected both black/black-white wires to negative battery with the red on the positive.

Relay is connected and 40a fuse is fine. I’ve connected the power to the compressor and the two wires to the pressure sensor. I’ve now connected the harness and wired the switch up on the isolator switch harness. I’m getting no light to the switch and no power to the compressor. What am I missing? I really thought I could do this myself but I’m lost at this point. To spice up the help, I’m willing to PayPal $20 to whoever helps me solve this.

I did not connect to dash illumination or ignition since I’m not trying to hook a switch up in the cabin. Any help is appreciated.

    Steve

Is the relay operating? Check it's output with a volt meter.
(And no, if I was any help I don't want the cash. This is what this forum is about.)

Do you have a 12V source to the switch itself? This is the 12V signal that will switch the relay on.

Also tap your pressure switch a few times lightly with a hammer.

Some photos and a schematic would help a LOT.

Took the harness out so I can drive. I got work today. I’ll draw up a diagram.

That I do not have. Can I wire it directly to battery? I don’t want to wire into the cabin.

make sure your relay is clicking when you switch it on. If it's not, find a better hot lead and/or ground.

According to several online ARB wiring diagrams....
The red/yellow (labeled ign) needs to be hooked to power. This is what the switch uses to trigger the relay.

Alright, I'm going to start with some assumptions since you aren't explicit...

You have the 12V ARB High Performance on-board Compressor (CKMA12).
You are installing to your 2021 Tacoma TRD OffRoad, which has a 12V system and battery.
You have the wiring dongle that came with the compressor ("Air Compressor Loom" - ARB Part # 180409) [link].
The Slee mount you have is this one (https://sleeoffroad.com/products/sok0038/)

So with that, here's the wiring diagram that should have come with your compressor:

Here's the simplest explanation of how to hook it up for just turning on and off via a switch and no controls over any solenoids for air lockers: [link to thread]

So with the above, and what you state here:
You won't get light on the switch unless you hook up some type of 12V source (dash or straight 12V to the battery) on the "TO DASH ILLUMINATION" BLU-WHT wire.

You won't turn on the compressor without some type of 12V source on the "TO IGNITION" RED-YEL wire. You can hook this directly up to a 12V source that is always on, but be aware that you may drain your battery dead leaving the compressor run too long without the vehicle's alternator providing power / recharging the battery. ALSO NOTE: Check your instructions before hooking this up to any wire - the outdated manual I found online states that this source needs to have a minimum of an 8amp fuse - that doesn't mean put in a larger fuse, but that the supply that you're tapping is capable of supplying that current without melting the stock wiring.

First, thank you. Second, can I use an add a fuse under the hood? Is there a recommended fuse to use in the fuse box? How many amps? 10+?

I haven’t connected the ignition wire yet. I have no idea where to connect it under the hood yet.

The ON part on the switch should get an indicator light if wired correctly.

Any empty terminal in the engine bay fuse box where a JCase fuse is missing is a battery source.

To just test my theory that this is the only thing you are missing, just connect it to the battery with a 10A fuse and see if that allows the compressor to function.

How do I tap into those? Just connect the hot and put a 10A on the wire?

Since the switch is not in the cab, you could do something like this:
    upload_2021-7-21_15-25-34.jpg
Illumination of switch when hood is open.

All i have left is the blue wire. Just add that to hood open sensor positive?
