What if someone really does know it all and he’s right about everything but we send him away? There should be a know it all quiz, just in case.

Looks like both sides of the conversation had some maturity level problems.

It takes two surfaces to cause friction. I suspect that this guy -- probably what, 55-60? --DOES see them as the same... both 4x4s, both have the same V6, both have ATs, etc. Trust me, most people don't know or even realize the little details in the various packages. And I'm pretty sure he's not going to be doing any hard-core off-reading, so yea, to him they're just both trucks. Good for getting mulch and plywood at Home Depot, and that 4x4 will be good in the snow. What's the difference between them? Just want he can see... he's got a sunroof.

Anyway, nothing to get worked up about. They're just trucks.

The next time there will be no next time, but if there is.....

I'd start random bullshit about how the hood scoop is functional for the interfooler for the turbskis like a WRX. That's why they call it the Sport. Don't forget to mention that the brakes are huge hence the 17 wheels.

With any luck he'll try his bullshit with someone else repeating what you said and look like an idiot.

In my 65 years on this spinning rock, I've learned there are some people who just aren't happy unless they're trying to tear others down. This dude probably does this to everyone. Take it with a grain of salt. He's probably the type that says 'Oh, you got a new 60" TV? Nice. Mines 70" ' .. Or 'Congrats on your new 4 bdrm house. Mines 5 bdrm' ... etc etc

You're right!, but I always thought that when you're older you're also wiser...well he might be wise but sure as heck doesn't show it...he's actually in his late 60's...

lol.. I don't think age actually brings wisdom. A few years ago I asked my 70 year old dad about the Jeep he bought and he wasn't even sure if he had a Cherokee or a Grand Cherokee, let alone any specifics on the engine details, the 4WD system, etc. Salespeople do a good job overwhelming them into buying, and older drivers really don't seem to know or care about the little stuff. As long as it starts and drives and they can figure out the radio...

Sometimes.....older people actually know, but they take to opportunity to mess with the younger "full of themselves" people.

Then the older person has a internal laugh. Its entertainment.

I say this with no snark OP, but the fact that you took the time to share this means it bothered you on some level.

The question I would pose is this: why would someone’s else’s lack of knowledge give you a seconds pause? We have three Toyotas…my wife drives all three and does not know the difference between a sport an off-road, a 100 series, an 80 series, an SR5 premium and a limited.

    Not everyone is an enthusiast.

My parents own a '19 Frontier Pro-4x. They wanted low tech with a few comforts. The roof rack, sunroof and heated leather were things they wanted. The e-locker, bilsteins, skid plates and 265s don't matter one bit to them. They have an acreage with a hobby farm and a yacht so any pickup they own gets put to use. Their area sees deep snow every winter so a proper 4wd is nice to have.

Agreed! Many years ago I was buying my wife a brand new Camry and she insisted on getting one with a sunroof. So I paid the extra Grand to make her happy. She used it one phucking time and said she did not like the sound of the wind over her head. Ten years later when I gave that car to my son to drive, he went to open it and it would not budge! :bananadead:
