    Just the basics
I had dinner with my brother tonight at The Hangar just north of KLGB. There is a lot of aviation memorabilia there and right next to us was a photo of the blast wall for the DC-10 production line. One of the DC-10s was in the American Airlines livery. Our dad most likely flew that exact aircraft. Sadly our father is nearing 88 years old and the end stages of Parkinsons. I've tried to get stories of his life from him over the years. The things he saw over the course of his lifetime, especially during more than 27k hours of flight time, could fill volumes. Lost to the hands of time and degraded neurological function. Record those stories whenever possible.

After dinner I went over to the parking lot near RWY 30 or is it 31 now? The airport used to be vibrant with production facilities for the C-17 and Gulfstream and lots of fixed and rotary wing training going on plus Jet Blue operations. Seems the airport is dead now. Very little going on. Most exciting thing was Ops doing the Part 139 nighttime field inspection. That job was one of the most fun I've had.

But less fun than 4...especially if you started with 4 but ended up with 3.

My Papa got go up in this SeaRey Elite on Saturday. It's the first time he's been at the stick since he left the service almost 30 years ago.

57DFCCB1-6A0C-418E-93E9-F9AAAEB93104.jpg I’m an engineer by trade, but I volunteer as a pilot for the civil air patrol. A very cost effective way to “keep current” and I get to take some pretty neat flights that I wouldn’t otherwise.

Edit: This pic was when we were flying ice chests full of COVID test swabs (yes, used ones lol) from East TX to the state lab in Austin back when this COVID thing blew up.

Gary is an awesome guy, and a fantastic pilot. He recently took some time off for a cardiac issue but he's back at it. Here is one of the promo videos from the early days of the MX production.

    Wow! Quite impressive.

I like the upside-down flat spin...

...^^^... I met him via a mutual friend who was with the Commemorative Air Force in Peachtree City, GA.

IIRC, the CAF had a cool P-51 that my other buddy flew in (as a passenger) for a donation to their club.

Personally I like inverted spins over upright spins - you hardly smell any exhaust when spinning inverted.

Looks like folks are gonna get wet at Oshkosh. Hope no damage occurs to aircraft!
