Did you make a tight left turn in 4hi?

When I heard the noise it was in 2hi. I tried turning in 4hi and 2hi again but couldn't recreate it. I don't want to chase random noises, but I figure I'd lay out all the symptoms to give a clear picture.

The most noticeable issue now is the brutal pulsing vibration in 4hi. I was worried about the whirring noise originally, but this vibration literally hurts my feet it is that bad. It seemed to get better over time, but it kept happening in 4hi around 1900RPM on the highway. It went away if I changed the RPMs

    About to ask the same.

What a trainwreck of a thread. I can't stop coming back to it.

Ok boys, place your bets. Who will deliver first: OP going to the dealer or that guy winching his truck with an ATV winch and a thousand snatch blocks?

There you go you've recreated the problem. Now take it to a dealer

Are you on dry pavement in 4wd???

Don't do that. Unless it's purely straight and flat.

My recollection is that Seattle highways aren't very straight. Don't drive in 4HI on the highway.

Look, OP, I am not one to pile on and really try to help out when I can, especially when someone is new and learning. But it is highly unlikely anyone on the internet is going to be able to give you a fix for your problem based on your descriptions. It could be nothing. It could be serious. It is unfortunate to have to deal with, but that's why they give you that bumper-to-bumper warranty for 3 years -- sometimes everything isn't right. You have choices:

You can ignore it and hope, worrying the whole time. Possible outcomes: 1. Nothing happens (whew!). 2. Something happens during the warranty period (whew! but sucks, because you busted your truck and are without it until they fix it). 3. Something happens after the warranty period (OH MAN! that sucks, now you are without your truck and YOU have to pay for it).

You could go the dealer. Possible outcomes: 1. They tell you it is normal and they can't find an issue (you have to learn to ignore it, but you no longer have to hope, and there is a record of you reporting the issue). 2. They find the issue and are able to quickly fix it (YAY). 3. They agree there is an issue but have trouble identifying and fixing it, leaving you without your truck for an extended period of time (BOO).

You can continue to look for "fixes" on the internet. Possible outcomes: 1. Nobody can provide you the fix (most likely, and back to one of the other options) 2. Somebody gives you the fix and you have to take it to the dealer to implement the fix under warranty (next most likely) 3. Somebody gives you the fix and you implement it yourself (very slim chance).

Pretty easy to see what the best and worst decisions are. Your most likely good outcomes are that it is either normal, or they identify the problem and fix it quickly. Every other outcome is less likely to happen. Possible, sure, but less likely.

But, I understand that some people just don't feel right if they don't have some drama or worry in their life. Ignoring it and hoping may just be right for you, because you need that in your life for some reason.

You know 3rd Gen lives for this stuff. Knee and head bumps. Standing bikes in the bed while closing the tailgate. Dry eyes from AC vents. Distracting shiny glove box locks.
The real magic is finding a 'problem', posting it in 3rd Gen, and selling a solution.

Just to confirm, take it off-road and see if it does it. A dirt road or a gravel road. Sounds like something is binding up. (CV axle, front dif, front drive shaft) You didn't leave it in 4WD and drive it on a dry road for an extended period of time?

No, I am always in 2hi on dry roads. I only went in 4hi because it was suggested to see if that would solve it. That is when I noticed the pulsating vibrations. Only other time I've been in 4hi was on a gravel road

This thread is turning into the TW version of ‘I flushed out my engine with water and now my mustang won’t start’ on the mustang forums from years back.
I give credit to OP for keeping things going and slowly thickening the plot…

You still got a few hours to make it to the dealerships, bud. Think you can wrap up replying to everyone before 6?

I didn't have any issues, but it was only a mile or so worth of driving to a trail and back.
