So again, you've reproduced the problem and verified that it doesn't do it on a loose surface which means something is binding. Take it to the dealership, drive with a master tech, and reproduce the problem in 4WD GOING STRAIGHT. If they say the noise or vibration is normal then ask them to prove it in another truck with 4WD under the same conditions.

Not to be silly, but you cannot possibly start the Lemon Law process without going through the dealership diagnosis/failure to diagnose steps. No matter what their reputation is. You don’t seem to have a choice. This is sad to hear. What a bummer on your first new vehicle, and a Toyota at that. I’ve been blessed with many great new Toyotas, never an issue, always great resale.
Also, remember these Tacomas are tops on the list of used vehicles dealers want to buy back at top dollar so they can resell at higher than new prices. Something to consider, I know it isn’t ideal. I dump cars immediately for mechanical issues. I cant stand it. Not typical, but I’m not alone either.
    best of luck

Thank you for the comment. It is good to know that others share my perspective on this

I have started to lean towards getting rid of the truck unless it is a simple fix

So if they replace your trans under warranty, you are going to take a “$10k” hit and sell the truck?

I'm just sticking around to try and understand this kind of thought process, and wondering what else is banging around in OP's head. Are we getting the whole story?

OP, do you just not like the truck? It is weird to spend all this time trying to do an internet diagnosis for a brand-new truck that is under warranty. Did you do something that may have caused this, and you are afraid the dealer might be able to figure that out? Why all this fear about taking it in to get it checked out? It's got to be more than a fear that they will have your truck for 2 years trying to fix it, which is a silly fear to have in the first place.

Now you are just throwing in the towel and getting rid of the truck because things haven't worked out perfectly like you expected? Without even taking any steps to get things back on track? WTH? And if it is not a simple fix, what makes you think you can get rid of it without fixing it anyway?

It's not possessed by a demon, and it doesn't hate you. It is a machine and can be fixed, but not by internet people or hopes or wishes.

What other things in your life haven't worked out like you expected, and how did you respond to those things?

I can understand that point of view. Most people own multiple vehicles, so leaving the truck at the dealer is no issue.

Personally, I hate having anyone else drive my vehicles and I've only owned used vehicles. I do all the maintenance and repairs myself. So, the idea of leaving my brand new truck at the dealer is awful.

The truck also cost a good amount of money, so for it to have any issues is not right. I would have the warranty repairs done, but I was planning to keep this for 10-20 years. That is what I mean by leaning towarda selling.

Im starting to look at 1-3 years of ownership as opposed to 15-20

Jesus, get over yourself. You sound like Francis from Stripes where he doesn't like no one touchin' his stuff.

You bought a new vehicle, those typically come with maintenance packages (some say they even come with warranties). My '17 4Runner came with like 3 years of FREE oil changes/tire rotations, etc... You bet your ass I used that, even when I do nearly all my own maintenance. It was free.

If you're that OCD about people driving your truck or needing to do your own maintenance, delete this thread and stop wasting everyone's time, as entertaining as this dumpster fire is becoming... There is no route for you to get this repaired/fixed without you either spending your own money to fix it yourself (which is an immense waste of time and money) or taking it to the dealer possibly have someone else (*gasp*) drive your truck. The upside is they'd fix it and not likely cost you a dime. But you don't seem to actually want it fixed. You want to complain.

I'm starting to think that dealer you don't like is more the result of them being frustrated with having to deal with you, not them being a bad dealer. After 11 pages of you ignoring advice, I can see that being the case.

I managed a bike shop for several years, and I've dealt with people who sound eerily similar to the OP. The more of his posts I read, the more he sounds like either the type that gets buyer's remorse and tries to play it off as there's something defective and wants to return it, or they're the type that just can't be made happy, i.e. even if you offer to fix the problem for free, they complain about having to bring the bike back and to not even bother but they're still going to ask to speak to the manager to complain. I remember a specific customer that I even offered to replace the entire bike with a whole new one, and they complained about how inconvenient this whole thing has been and go full Karen (way before that was even a term, lol) and ask for my boss.

My wife used to drive a Nissan Cube with a horrible CVT transmission. The transmission went out with 20000 miles on it. Dealer replaced the transmission under warranty and it went out again at 50000 miles. It had a 60000 mile powertrain warranty. When they replaced it the second time they warrantied the new transmission to 100000 miles. She gave the thing to her nephew 4 years ago, and he now has the mileage up to almost 200000 and it is still running like a champ.

One of the main reason's people buy a new car is the protection that a warranty offers if something is not right. It's fine if this has ruined Toyota's and Tacoma's for you in the future. It's fine if you want to get out from under the whirring/vibrating rock.

But in the mean time....You should take it to the dealer and let them look at it.
